1. What kind of car do drive? DH?
2. Would you recommend yours? DH?
3. How's the gas mileage?
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable?
TIA! We are in the market for a used car and can't seem to land on one so I thought I would ask here on what you gal would recommend.
Re: Poll: Car
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I drive a Chevy Colbalt and DH drives an Olsmobile Cutless
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? DH's car is a hand me down and is comfy, but its more of an 'old person car' Its very similar to the one my grandpa drives. My Colbat is wonderful, but when I bought it I got the 2 door, I would have been much happier with the 4 door.
3. How's the gas mileage? Not sure about DH's car, but mine is an '06 and I get about 34MPG highway
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? I have a 20 minute comute to work and yes I drive my car. I typically fill up once a week (that includes local weekend excursions) and right now it cost about $27 to fill up.
HTH!
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I drive a '10 Toyota Rav 4Sport (no tire on the back) and FI drives a '09 Chevy Trailblazer
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? If you are looking for SUV's yeah we both like our cars.
3. How's the gas mileage? Mine is good, but it has a small tank, so that stinks. FI's is about 20 mpg.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute is 30-45 min. I drive, and yes, it's awesome. LOVE IT. FI is in sales, so he drives his truck ALOT and loves it as well.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? 2000 Ford Mustang/2009 Subaru WRX
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Mine has been a great car. It has 200K miles on it and no real problems. I desperately need a new one but love not having a car payment.
Love his. Fast and fun but still good for trips because it has four doors and a nice trunk. Also, it's all wheel drive and does really well in the snow. Premium gas is the only drawback for his. Oh and it only comes in a manual if that matters to you.
3. How's the gas mileage? Mine = 22mpg/ His = 28/mpg
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute is at least an hour and I drive. It's fine but like I said, I need a new one.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? 2007 Hyundai Sonata/1995 Acura Integra
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? My car is great, I haven't had any problems so far in the 2 years I've had it. DH's is good too, just old.
3. How's the gas mileage? Mine = 28mpg DH= over 30mpg
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? When I did commute it was about a 30 minute drive and yes my car is comfortable, DH says his is too. We've always taken my car on longer road trips and I've never been uncomfortable, even on the 8+ hour drive to Atlanta. DH's car we took on a short road trip 3-4 hours last summer and I was not a fan, it's just too small to be comfortable for a long period of time.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo in the winter, VW New Beetle Convertible in the summer...DH Drives a Dodge Ram Pickup in the winter, and a BMW 540i in the spring/summer.
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Depends on what you are looking for. I need the 4wd in the winter and I absolutely LOVE my jeep...once this one dies *knocks wood* I would get a newer one...lots of room, pretty much guaranteed to make it anywhere. The NBC is fun to drive but def not a winter car...I don't know how people make it driving one all year long around here...but since you don't really get much winterish stuff down there, wouldn't be bad for you. I would NOT recommend the truck...it's a diesel...he bought it when diesel was cheaper than gas, not so much anymore. You don't even want to know how much it is to fill his tank. The BMW is nice...comfy, but I'm not allowed to drive it haha. DH would recommend it but I think that's because he thinks he's hot shitolies driving it. Boys and their toys.
3. How's the gas mileage?Jeep - sucks ass it's a SUV. NBC - awesome! I mean how much can it use? Truck - sucks balls. BMW - Good as far as I know.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute is a whole whopping 7 minutes. However I do travel 45 minutes one way once a week to the shelter and I'm comfy in the Jeep...DH is not but he's a big guy. I don't find the NBC all that comfy but I think that's because 1) I'm new at the stick shift and 2) I'm so damn short I have to be so close to the stearing wheel in order to push down the clutch. I'm used to having the gangsta lean in the Jeep. BMW is so comfy you could probably nap in it.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? Me: Hyundai Elantra DH: Ford Ranger
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Mine: It's an '03 so it's older, I bought it used from my cousin and it's been a great car. I would love to get a hybrid though. DH: we don't drive it all that much unless we're going in the snow or hauling stuff. I love having a truck w/ 4WD though b/c we do use it, especially last year when we had 2 feet of snow
3. How's the gas mileage? Mine: Anywhere from 23-30 MPG depending on where I'm driving. DH: 15-20 MPG
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? Commute is about 15 miles I drive my car and it works great to get me too and from work. We also take it most places b/c it's more comfortable than the truck and it gets better gas mileage.
1. '99 Ford Ranger and a '04 Volkswagon Jetta
2. Yes, my Ford Ranger has held up really well, and I know a lot of Ranger owners who have older models that still hold up well. The Jetta is awsome but I would go for the '05 model or higher because it is a foot and half longer thereby increasing comfort in the backseat. We have 2 car seats in back of our Jetta right now and it works well.
3. I don't know off the top of my head. Both get good milage for the type of vehicles that they are. The Ranger is only a 4 cylender so that helps a lot.
4. Work is about 5 minutes away. We fill up once a week to once every other week. Both are comfortable. We have drove them both accross country.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? Me: 2007 Honda Fit Sport DH: a clunker Camaro that he is driving into the ground before he buys a new car
I'll just give you feedback on mine
2. Would you recommend yours? For sure! I love my car! It looks small from the outside but it really has tons of room on the inside. It's a breeze to parallel park, has great "get up and go", is fun to drive. One of the things I really like about it is that all of the seats fold down flat. This has come in super handy when moving, buying large items, we have even fit two bicycles (before I got a bike rack) in the back of my car with the back seats folded down.
I got new tires recently which was lots of moolah for the sport tires - that was a bummer. I do the scheduled maintenance and haven't had to take it in the shop for any issues in the 3 years I have had it.
3. How's the gas mileage? I'd guess I get around 30 mpg. On average it takes $20-$25 for a tank. I fill up every 1-2 weeks depending on how much venturing around I do.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? I have a short commute - only 15 or so minute drive to work, but am always exploring other parts of the city. I drive two hours one-way out of the city 1-2 times a month. I find it to be very comfy on those longer trips. DH says he feels little cramped when he is driving, but he is alot bigger than I am
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I drive an 08 Grand Prix DH drives 09 Chevy Truck
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Both are good vehicles. I got mine certified used so it had a little extra warranty on it. DH got his new so full warranty on it. Both have basic options, DH has onstar & xm radio which I would love to have. Both are four doors, in anticipation that we will be getting kids in & out and it would be easier. I (DH) also got mine because of the 3800 engine. They last a long time and reliable. And I (DH) wanted to stick with the GM line. (LOL)
3. How's the gas mileage? I get about 25 mpg, no idea on DH
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? I drive about 30-35 min/25 miles in my car unless the snow is blowing around, then I take his truck. Both are comfortable, but nothing special. I would love to have a Equinox or a Traverse but the gas millage just isn't there, and all I have to drive around right now is just me, so we went with MPG as the decision maker.
1. What kind of car do drive? '07 Jeep Compass (black, 4 dr, 4wd) DH? '07 Mustang (red, 2dr, rear wheel drive with NO traction control!)
2. Would you recommend yours? Absolutely! I love my car! DH? If you want a mustang, you want a mustang. It REALLY sucks to have in the MN winter.
3. How's the gas mileage? Mine gets about 25/27. DHs gets around 20 or less.
4. How long is your commute to work? about 15 miles. Do you drive your car? Yep. Is it comfortable? Totally.
I really do love my jeep. It's a great size compact SUV, gets pretty good gas mileage, has been fantastic on trips. I haven't had any problems with it except when I got rear-ended, and they fixed that right up. It's comfortable, the transmission is this crazy Continuously Variable Trans...so you never feel it shifting gears. 2007 was the first year they were made, so the new ones might be even better.
Good luck!
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Yes and yes. I love little reliable cars, and that's exactly what I have! I have no desire to own anything fancier. DH also likes his car.
3. How's the gas mileage?Great! if it's all city driving may 28mpg, but I've gotten as good as 44 mpg on all interstates/hwys.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? I take public transportation, but in the past it used to be about 10 miles and yes it was comfortable. I've also driven that thing half way across the country 5 times. No complaints.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I drive a 2004 Chevy Tahoe and DH drives a 2005 Cadillac STS. We had to switch vehicles two summers ago when gas prices were outrageous because his vehicle and gas is paid by his company.
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? We like both of them and will probably continue to get similar vehicles in the future.
3. How's the gas mileage? Not so good on either, but the STS is better than the Tahoe.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? Both DH and I drive an hour each one way. Both cars are very comortable for the drive. Especially in bad weather. Mine's 4x4 and DH's is AWD.
1. What kind of car do drive? VW Bug and a GMC Yukon for work DH? BMW
2. Would you recommend yours? Yes and Yes DH? Yes
3. How's the gas mileage? my car is about 25-30/yukon 15-20 and Jake's 25-30
4. How long is your commute to work? round trip 60 miles Do you drive your car? to work yes, during the yukon Is it comfortable? yes and yes
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? We share. But we have an 08 MazdaSpeed3 and a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer.
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? I would recommend both. But if you are looking for better gas mileage the Mazda3 takes regular, as opposed to premium, gas. I like that the Mazda is a hatchback, even though I feel like I am driving a station wagon. My dog can sit back there and she isn't on the seats and when we have to load up for longer trips we have space. With a babe on the way, I am sure the space will get much more use also.
3. How's the gas mileage? The Mazda gets between 20-28 depending on how we drive it and the Mercury gets 19 at best. But we use this car for camping and toy hauling. So it doesn't get driven around town a whole lot.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? When I did commute I drove about 45 mins each way and they are both equally comfortable. Timm now has a commuter car because he drives 80 miles to work each way. He drives a 1992 Toyota Paseo that he borrows from my aunt. It was my first car and has over 200,000 miles on it. It still runs like a champ. It gets amazing gas mileage, something like 30-35 MPG. But it is quite hilarious to watch him get in and out of it. It is smaller than a Civic and he is 6'4''.
Good luck finding something you love!
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? I drive a 2003 Nissan Murano in the winter, 1999 Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor in the summer. DH has an 1996 3/4 ton suburban (work vehicle).
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? The Murano is a nice car. Great winter vehicle. 4-wheel drive, etc. The Mercedes is just a fun car. I love the having the hard-top convertible in the summer.
3. How's the gas mileage? Jusk Ok - 20 mpg for the Murano. Mercedes gets about 30 mpg
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute is only about 12 miles each way. The Murano is very roomy and comfortable.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? 10 Merucry Mariner Hybrid/06 Chevy half ton pickup
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Totally on mine...pickup is not good for commuting.
3. How's the gas mileage? If I don't turn on the heat and don't need the 4 wheel drive, its runs on hybrid up to 41 mph.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? My commute is the time is take to cross a very busy intersection and then about a block after that (I walk when there's no ice). The Mariner is very comfortable.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? Toyota FJ Cruiser/BMW 328i
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Absolutely for both!
3. How's the gas mileage?Pretty good for a SUV/great
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? About 20 min, used to be an hour/I drive it every day/Very comfortable and spacious
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Mine- YES! DH's, yes but an earier year. The van- not for regular driving but if you're into camping or tailgating it's very handy!
3. How's the gas mileage? Mine gets 40MPG highway, DH gets about 15MPG in the truck and the van gets about 18MPG.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? When I had to commute it was about an hour and a half. In rush hour having a small car is both extremely handy (you can squeeze into small spaces) and dangerous (bigger vehicles sometimes don't see me). But overall I like it because it's comfy and gets such good gas mileage it's worth the cons! DH commute about 30 minutes in his truck and he doesn't complain.
1. What kind of car do drive? DH? FI and I share my car for now. It's an '07 VW Jetta
2. Would you recommend yours? DH? Absolutely! I'm in love with my car.
3. How's the gas mileage? We get about 30 mpg. Fill up about every 2 to 3 weeks.
4. How long is your commute to work? Do you drive your car? Is it comfortable? I drive about 10 minutes to work, but every weekend we spend about 45 minutes in the car doing grocery shopping and errands. It's definitely comfy, and one of the only sedans we could find that FI fit in and could drive comfortably (he's 6'5"). It's roomy but doesn't feel like a huge grandma car and still has a youngish feel to it. It also feels a lot more expensive than it is. It has a fantastic trunk, too. My one and only complaint about it is that I wish it had all-wheel drive for the winter. I didn't put snow tires on it last year and it did so-so in the snow. This year I put snow tires on and it's handling really great.
