Everyone Stand Back, I'm a Professional
John and I have been looking for a new washing machine since I think ours was made before we were born. Since we had one that worked we weren't in a rush and were going to wait till the "cash for clunkers" program started. This past week though, the dinasaur "ate" several pieces of clothing, so we decided to go ahead and start looking more aggresively.
After much reserach we had narrowed it down to 3 machines, out we go yesterday to go to an appliance outlet to see if they had any, then Best Buy and Lowes. We finally get to Lowes and there is the model we want in the "scratch and dent" section, it was missing a foot. Now that's a big deal, but we are using the pedestal so no worries for us.
The machine retails for $990, since it was missing a foot it was marked down to $800. Then I noticed some scratches on it that were not mentioned in the markdown area and asked if they could take anything else off, came back and yes we could have it for $700. Lowes was also having a promotion on the pedestal for this brand instead of $299 if you bought the machine the pedestal was $49. I made sure that was still on the table and since it was we bought it all.
John had gotten some Lowe's gift cards for Christmas, and his grandmother had given me $100. So we put that all towards it and walked out with a new machine, pedestal, free installation, delivery and removal of our old one for $586. I feel VERY accomplished! Oh and since we put it on the Amex you AUTOMATICALLY get an additional 3 year warranty once the manufacturer's warranty runs out.

awesome! We were looking at a set the other day that they have on sale at Lowes, the washer and dryer for like 899 or something.
But my eye kept drifting over to the Bosch set. Ever since we got the Bosch dishwasher and it's so quiet you have to look for the light to even see if it's running, I really want a Bosch washer and dryer!
What brand did you get?
We got a Bosch! You're the first person I know with one, I'm glad you like yours, we got referrals from Consumer Reports, and it was highly rated and reccommended.
Now go find me an over the range, stainless microwave for $100.
when you find it, find two because I'm in the market for one of these as well!
