I just hung up on DH ~vent

So I just called DH to tell him about locking the bathroom door and see what he said to do, if he had advice.  And E starts hollaring in the background.  She's been so cranky, cutting teeth, it's been a week from hell.  So he's like "won't you just call me back later once you see about her."  So I hung up on him.  Does he think I'm NOT seeing about her?  She's fussy, I can't fix it.  I give her motrin and oragel and love, best I can do.

And it just annoys me that he doesn't offer to help with her ever, it's like he's doing me a favor is he's changing a diaper or something.  Yeah, I'm a SAHM and I wouldn't change that for the world, but I NEVER get a break.  It'd be different if we lived near my family because they would keep her sometimes just to give me a break.  The only time his mom ever has anything to do with her is if someone else is around that she's trying to impress.  Then she acts like grandmother of the year and it makes me want to shove my fist down her throat.

Anyway....sorry I just needed to vent, I need a night off, or a day to just go shop with my friends or something.  I don't believe in constantly bringing her to a sitter, I love spending time with her.  But sometimes I just need some "me" time and he doesn't get it.

  • :(  I'm sorry.  I can imagine that spending all your time with one person (even if that one person is small and really cute) can get to be a bit much sometimes.  Maybe try sitting down and talking to him once E goes to sleep one night.  One of my biggest faults is just assuming that MH knows when I need help with something.  As he tells me, he's not a mind reader.  Usually a calm conversation helps.  For a little while anyway.  :)

  • well apparently he was at Lowe's, getting stuff for work.  He stopped by and claims he didn't even hear Elise fussing, that he was annoyed with the cashier at Lowe's.

But I still informed him that I was going out to eat tonight with a friend and he is staying home with Elise.

  • My friend's husband was never alond withtheir daughter until she was over 1, becuase "she didn't like him", (those were his words). I was appaled! I agree with Shoe, just talk to him and let him know that he gets a break from work when he comes home, you work 24/7, 365 and you are just looking for a little "me" time.

  • I know how you feel, even with whitley so young, there's some days where I am with whitley from wake up to falling asleep. D doesnt understand how much the 15 or 20 minutes of soaking in the tub without a babe at my side means to me.

I'm sure you have tried it already, but have you tried the teething tablets? My pedi told me these are a blessing for teething and cutting teeth babes.. Hope it gets better soon hun.

  • Oh I'm sorry hun. I'm obvioulsy not a mom of any kind but I can't imagine your frustration. I imagine you want/need some time to yourself. Maybe do what Shoe suggested and try to talk to him when you are both home with a glass of wine while E is sleeping. I'm sure it will be easier to talk when you are both relaxed and she's not screaming and he's not fighting the crowds at Lowes.

we aren't doing the teething tablets, beware of those.  They contain belladonnna, which is a poison.  Both Elise's pediatrician and my cousin, who is a doctor told me to stay away from those.
