5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better?
I slept AWFUL last night and it made me think to ask you all what your
sleeping habits are like. I need to figure something out, and probably
get into a better routine so I can actually get some sleep at night!

Re: Sleep Poll
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? depends. If/when I am suffering from insomnia (currently I am), I will get about 3 hours usually right before I have to get up for work. Typically I get about 6 hours of sleep on average.
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? I am a very light sleeper.
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? I toss and turn and wake up all night long with bad dreams, unable to get comfortable, not being able to breath well, etc.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? Takes me about 45 minutes to an hour to fall asleep.
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? I wish. I have tried lots of things and nothing really helps me. I find that when I am having one of my rough nights, I keep my eyes closed, concentrate on my breathing and focus on a shape (like a circle). Tracing that shape in my mind over and over helps me to get some z's.
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? During the week, 7 at the most. On the weekends it's usually between 8 and 9. I really do not function well on less than 6 hours.
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? Very light sleeper. I keep earplugs on my nightstand because DH wakes me up multiple times a night snoring.
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? DH and/or the dog wake me up multiple times throughout the night.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? I usually fall asleep right away.
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? Unless I'm exhausted I'll always watch tv or read before bed.
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? During the week, 7-8 at the most. On the weekends it's usually between 8 and 12. I really do not function well on less than 6 hours.
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? Very deep - I could probably sleep through anything.
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? I sleep all night. Very rarely do I wake-up...this only happens on the off chance I have a bad dream or if I have to get up to use the bathroom.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? I usually fall asleep right away.
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? Unless I'm ready to pass out, we usually watch tv or something before bed.1. Before my little sleep-stealer arrived, I got 8 hours every night and was wonderfully happy and strong. Now the edginess I feel is a good caffeine replacement!
2. I am both. I sleep lightly for sounds and movement, but sometimes deep enough not to notice things I've gotten used to.
3. I sleep straight through, but for Scarlett and her wee hours shenanigans.
4. I can fall asleep right away. I've only been able to do that for the last few years. Before that, I'd be awake at least an hour.
5. I shower before bed, and the warmth is very soothing and relaxing. I haven't read in bed since Scarlett, but I do like to read a bit.
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? Deep at first, lighter in the morning. That's when any paw on the ground will wake me up.
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? I usually wake up 1-2 times to pee. Can be up to 3 times now that I'm pregnant. And right now I wake up pretty much every time I turn (which is often) because of the belly.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? Most of the time it takes me about 5-10 min. But sometimes it could take a while longer if I have too many things in my mind
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? Read, and if we have an early dinner, a snack. Sometimes I get hungry as I lay there trying to fall asleep, and a yogurt or small bowl of cereal will prevent that.1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? It all depends on what time I fall asleep. I used to go to bed when M goes to bed (anywhere between 8pm - 10pm depending on the day), now, I don't bother going to bed usually until around 11:30-midnight because I don't fall asleep before that no matter how long I lay in bed with my eyes closed.
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? Once I'm asleep, as long as I've been asleep for a while, then I'm a deep sleeper, if it hasn't been that long then I'm a VERY light sleeper and God help the assholle that wakes me up.
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? Lately I've been waking up several times during the night and taking forever to fall back to sleep. This has led to many nights of hardly any sleep.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? I wish I could fall asleep right away, it take me for-ev-er.
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? Nope, nothing, I wish I had something that helps, but nothing seems to. M is insisting that "something" is in our house and "keeping me awake", whatever dude, you're an idiot. Good thing I have my physical next week.
As you can probably tell from my shiitty attitude, I have not been getting very good sleep. I miss it terribly.
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? I used to be a really good sleeper. I'd get at least 8 hours a night. Back pain makes it impossible to sleep through the night and it's completely screwed up my schedule. The last 48 hours, I've gotten maybe 5 hours of sleep total. It's not even the pain sometimes, my body just doesn't know how to relax anymore it seems.
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? If I actually fall asleep, you could explode a bomb next to me and I won't wake up. I've climbed on top of J for warmth in my sleep and I didn't want up until he shook me to get me off him.
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? I always wake up by 3 AM with leg pain. Sometimes I'm able to take something or adjust and fall back asleep. Sometimes not.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? On a good day, it takes me about a half hour.
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? I drink tea (Bedtime tea from Trader Joe's) before bed and read. I like to read until I start to nod off. It helps me stop thinking.
I hate insomnia. There's nothing worse than staring at the clock and being awake when everyone is asleep. Sleep aids don't even effect me anymore it seems, my body has developed an immunity.
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? 7-9
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? very light sleeper!
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? I wake up through out the night.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? depending on the type of day I had, good day I fall asleep much quicker.
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? I drink chamomile tea almost every night before bed, I think it helps.
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? I always aim for at least 6 so I can function. I like 7 or 8, but that never happens, except on the weekends.
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? Pretty deep once I actually fall asleep.
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? I've never been one to wake up during the night, until recently. I've been tossing and turning lately and I HATE it. I think it's stress, etc, keeping me up and I'm really over it. I miss my SOLID 6-7 hours of sleep.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? I can't fall asleep for the life of me lately and I HATE it. I used to be able to knock out after 30 mins. or so.
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? No rituals, if you guys have any, send 'em my way please.
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? around 7-8 a night during the week, sometimes more on the weekend. But, I'm so used to getting up at 5 during the week that even if I go to sleep really late during the weekend (like 2, 3), I'm still "up" around 5. Also, I've found that if I sleep in past 7-8 hours I get headaches during the day and generally feel more sluggish. Weird.
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? Very deep once I fall asleep
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? In general I sleep all night. However, if I don't fall into my normal deep sleep I tend to wake up a few times at night, especially if DH is bothering me or I'm moving around a lot. I also wake up more if I sleep in past my normal 7-8 hours.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? Usually it's right away (w/in about 15 minutes)
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? I take some time to wind down during the evenings. I try to get most things done before 8 pm (cleaning/straigtening up anything, dinner/not eating past 7:30, getting anything ready for the next day). I usually shower at night and change into pajamas. I don't like watching tv if I need to have a good night's sleep (I find it keeps me up), but I love to read in bed. Also, I turn off a lot of lights...it helps your body to see the shift from light to dark. And, I find that being a little chilly helps your body signal sleep (mimics the body's temperature drop that occurs when you sleep).
Veruca - if I sleep in past 9-10 hours I get headaches during the day and generally feel more sluggish too!
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? deep for normal sounds like thunderstorms, dh getting into bed, & tv, light for most other noises like snoring
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? Sleep through
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? Usually within 10 mins, DH gets jealous, he takes forever
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? Not really, I fall asleep pretty easily
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? Well, it depends. Usually I am terrible and stay up late even though I am tired and get about 6 hours (if I'm lucky -- for a while I was getting about 4). When DH and I discipline ourselves and go to bed when we are tired, we get around 7-8. I prefer the discipline bc we go to bed around 10 and get up before 6. Then we get to see each other in the morning =D. On the weekends we sleep anywhere from 8 -12 hours depending on the work week schedule and how late we were up the night before.
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? I am a DEEP sleeper. I hope that changes when we have kids though.
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? I usually sleep all night, but if I have nightmares or something on my mind, I will be up off and on all night....
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? Like above it depends. Usually I stay up so late that I immediately passout, but if I have something on my mind, I will be up for hours tossing and turing.
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? Nope. Actually, I usually workout before bed which keeps me up longer..... fail
Ooooh the ever so elusive sleep. Let me preface this by saying, I used to sleep where ever when ever. In fact the Ex's biggest complaint was that I was always sleeping...I would go to a concert, and crawl behind one of the big speakers and sleep while the beand was playing. Now, sleep and I have to dance around each other. Ive tried a bunch of different prescription sleep meds, nothing works.
Also, I sleep with ear plugs in every night because DH is a snore master! I also sleep with a eye pillow on. Im like a mummy! lol
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? Usually 7-8 hours in bed...of those maybe 6 hours of sleep. I wake up a lot, and then cant fall back to sleep because the ear plugs just barely muffle DH's snorring.
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? Deep right when I fall asleep, then about 1-2 am I am the worlds lightest sleeper
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? See above.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? Usually I fall asleep on the couch watching tv and DH comes and moves me into the bed. Once moved it takes about 20 minutes to fall asleep.
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? I wish.
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? Between 6-8hrs
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? Generally a light sleeper
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? I usually wake up at least once during the night. Sometimes I wake up with anxiety and it takes me a while to fall back asleep, other times I wake up, roll over, and pass out.
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? Usually within ten minutes of laying down.
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? I have my sleep machine from brookstone that has to be on for me to fall asleep.
1. How many hours of sleep do you typically get? 6
2. Are you a light/deep sleeper? Light, anything and everything wakes me up.
3. Do you sleep all night or wake up a few times throughout? Ugghh, I wake up a few times. I wish I could sleep through the night!
4. Do you fall asleep right away or does it take you a while? It takes a while
5. Do you have any sleep remedies/rituals you do before bed that helps you sleep better? I can fall asleep easier if I read before bed, I guess it helps clear my mind. Sometimes I take 2 benadryl if I have to get up really early and want to have a decent nights rest.
