**amy**another hair question
Gah! I'm so inept. When curling my hair does it matter if I curl towards my face or away from it?
Re: **amy**another hair question
You are not inept! When I curl I mix the two directions so it looks more 'natural'. Too uniform, or all the same way, would look silly. So just randomly mix it up.
Also, don't curl up from the ends of your hair. Start your curling iron closer to the root and curl your way down the hair shaft. This will also help your curl last longer.
I'm sure you'll make it look just as gorgeous as your stylist did!
sorry to butt in, but how do you curl from the roots down?? i am having a hard time visualizing this!

My Food Blog - Good Eats 'n Sweet Treats
A blogger I read sometimes posted a tutorial that shows her doing this:

I tried it once... it did NOT look the same, but with practice I'm sure I could get it right!
Thanks for the pointers! I really am inept (I never do anything with my hair, it's tragic really). I think I'm going to get a 1?" barrel - I remember thinking my stylists' was huge.

LOL! I don't know how else to describe it, but I knew it would be a tough visual. I put the barrel close to the scalp and wrap the hair, then slowly release the hair while twisting more of the hair into the barrel and repeat until the ends are tucked. As each section gets into the barrel I hold the iron there for a few seconds to allow it to get curled.
If you start at the end of your section of hair you'll wind up with just the ends curled and that's why most people think their hair won't hold a curl. It will, if you do it correctly.
I was totally thinking of this as I curled my hair this morning!
