I know it's early but.....V-Day plans?

What are you doing for Valentine's Day for hubby?  Do you leave it up to him to plan something?

Do you have a tradition? Do you do nothing because valentines day is WAY overrated and no different than any other day of the year? lol

Re: I know it's early but.....V-Day plans?

  • No clue!

We either go out for dinner to a nicer restaurant or buy fresh seafood from Whole Foods and make dinner at home.  I think this year I'd prefer to go out.  We don't go out that much anymore, and you know, sometimes I just want someone to cook for me for a change!  DH usually gets me flowers, and I tend to get him something small (or bake something for him) and we exchange cards.

  • I SO wish that my debt would be paid off by then and we could do a quick weekend away but that sort of thing will just have to wait.  We celebrate the day after Valentine's Day because its our "Annetine's" Day.  Our anniversary of our first date is the 16th so we do the day inbetween.  This is one of the two days of the year that D cooks for me.  Not sure what he will have in store but I don't know what I will do for him either.

Since I skipped his b-day and Christmas, I feel like I should do something.....hmmm thinking cap......

  • I like my V-day cheesey an cheap, like it was in kindergarten. Two years ago, J got a box of SpongeBob Squarepants valentines and hide them all over the apartment. I loved it. Last year he got me a big, drug store heartshaped box of chocolates. I usually get him a card with a funny pun.

Our first kiss anniversary is the night before so we usually go out to dinner for that and avoid the crowds!

I pph your husband and am SO happy you have him.
  • The first year we were together he took me to dinner at a nice place (where he ended up proposing at later), and got me a diamond necklace.  When I discovered that he was charged $120.00 for a $20.00 bottle of wine at dinner I was PISSED and swore off fancy Valentine's Day. For the past couple of years I have made dinner at home using the fancy china and setting a table in front of the fireplace and it's perfect.  This year I will probably do the same, but I would love to have a dinner party with some married couple friends too.
  • Not sure yet.  We've set a $25 cap on gifts to each other, but that's as far as we've gotten.

We'll be in RI for BIL's commissioning that weekend, and our return flight doesn't land until 11pm on Feb. 13 with an hour drive home.  We'll probably just eat dinner at home unless one of us is motivated to start calling restaurants.

I might try out our new creme brulee set.

  • We 'plan' on going to a new to us restaurant... maybe NOT on V Day, but that's fine.  Maybe I'll do a nice dinner on that day.

LOVE the Spongebob things! DH has a pair of pj's with SB on it.  He loves Spongebob... and Fairly Odd Parents...

He's not big into giving cards, though... and I'm a big fan of cards.

  • Sometimes we go out soemtimes we  dont. Last year we both bought each other necklaces, but this year I am going to campaign for no gifts.

We are actually going to have 4 other couples over for Vday dinner! I am pretty excited!

  • I'm really not sure. Usually we do a nice private dinner and evening together. Sometimes Dh cooks for me and sometimes we go out. Eahc year we mix it up. We usually do candy as gifts. This year, DH's mom has a free night at a hotel voucher that is about to expire, so we are thinking we'll go to Asheville and stay the night there. It's where we honeymooned and is beautiful. There's a nice restaraunt there we wanted to try too, so that's probably the plan. But we really just wing it most of the time lol.
  • Probably nothing, we never have really, usually because of low money, and this year doesn't seem like its going to be any better. We MAY get to go out to dinner, otherwise..I just cook one of our favorites and call it a day.
  • We usually don't celebrate V-Day.  We say it's because it's too much of a Hallmark holiday but really we are still catching up from Christmas.

  • I usually just get him a nice card.  Doubt I'll receive anything in return.  We usually don't do anything special.
  • I doubt we'll be doing anything. I'll be working 9-6 and then I'll probably be sitting at home alone after that. (Woe is me haha) TNA has a PPV that day and it looks like M will probably be in Orlando for it. Ugh.

    Thanks, Karrey. Me too. Wink

  • We have never done anything....and by WE I mean HE.

Oh well, someday maybe he'll be romantic.

This!  I can't stand the mark up that all the nice restaurants do.  So instead of spending a normal amount for dinner it would be $75 - 100 for a three - five course prix fixe dinner plus drinks.  Meh.  I'd rather just sit at home and order in or cook.

  • We usually don't do anything . . . I'm not a V-day fan, really.  Now that we have Bebe I am looking forward to when she is old enough to do sweet things for, but thats a few years away.  Until then, we will keep to our tradition of ignoring the holiday.
  • Ever since DH got me turtles for VDay (pecan turtles, and I am allergic to pecans) and we got in a massive fight, we skip it.  We might go hang out with friend and let my parents watch Hunter on the 13th though.

  • We don't celebrate it, but I like reading about other people's plans. Smile
  • We don't celebrate, I find it overrated and it's just too much between the anniv., christmas, all the birthdays that happen in Jan and then my birthday.
  • We are kid-free that weekend, and Redneck has training in Wichita the whole week before (which includes his birthday) so I'm guessing we will be,um, celebrating at home??

Maybe we'll have chocolate cake.  He likes to take chocolate cake breaks 'cuz his blood sugar drops with all that activity...

    Man, I am psycho today!

  • Hmm... DH use to spoil me with jewelry every year and nice dinner. We have been cooking dinner at home with a bottle of wine and a redbox movie!!
