Some people should never be parents...

So I went to Dunkin Donuts this morning, and as I was walking in, this woman was walking out with her probably about 4-6 week infant in a car seat carrier thingy, and a 2 year old. Well, she realized after she got her coffee that she couldn't carry the two kids and her coffee at the same time. So she decided to leave her NEWBORN on the floor right by the door of the Dunkin Donuts - so close to the door that unless you were paying attention, you could have stepped on the baby, like on the door mat just inside the store. Once she had her coffee safely in the cup holder of her mini van, she came back in and got the baby... and then left.

I am not a parent... nor will I be anytime soon... BUT... i know at LEAST not to ever do that. There is a Starbucks drive-thru across the street. Bah.

Ok. Rant over.

Re: Some people should never be parents...

  • That is crazy!!!! I see bad parenting all the time in the school system. The decisions some adults make sometimes are just plain shocking.

  • Oh man. Clearly your coffee is more important than your newborn...side note, should she be drinking coffee? I assume she is breastfeeding if the baby is that young?
  • Wowzers.... I used to be a social worker, some people should NEVER be parents....ridiculous.
  • Geez.. reminds me of one these river crossing puzzles:

"A farmer has to transport a fox, a goose, and some grain across a river. He has a boat which he can row back and forth from shore to shore. He can take himself and one other thing in the boat. However, unless he is present, the goose will eat the grain and the fox will eat the goose. How can he transport all three things across the river?"

So a woman has a two year old, a newborn, and a steaming hot cup of coffee, and she needs to get to her car... lol

  • Karen, you are cracking me up!

Seriously...I love that the thing she was concerned about the most was her coffee...

  • Wow. I would never leave my son like that no matter what is going on. I hate when people act like that. Having a child is a privilage (sp), but some people dont look at it that way. And I agree 100% that some people should not be parents.

  • It's harder to adopt a puppy! Seriously, there should be some sort of basic intelligence test you have to pass before you can leave the hospital with the kid...
