planet fitness

anyone ever used planet fitness before? their commercials interested me and the one on anderson lane is easy access for me on my way home from work. but wondering if there is some sort of catch since it's so cheap.

Re: planet fitness

  • I have a membership. It's fine. The only complaint I have is that when it got really cold here the last few weeks, it was too warm in the gym; like the heat was on too high.

They have lots of machines and I've never had to wait. The decor is a tad garish (black, purple, and yellow), but for $10/mo, who can complain. :)

  • No catch. I was a member there for most of last year. They have nice equipment and locker rooms, but there's no classes and no childcare. As for the personal training they advertise, really it's a trainer going through each type if equipment (cardio, upper body weights and lower body weights), showing you how to use the equipment and giving guidance on reps/weight/target heart rate. Once you think you've progressed, you can meet with a trainer again and they'll reassess how you're doing. I always felt really comfortable there-it was a good mix of people: young and old, in shape and not, and everyone was there to work out, not to socialize, like happens at some other gyms.
