Re: Guys are "players Women are "whores" wtf??

  • Double standard?

    Maybe...

  • I guess I don't really know anyone who buys into the double standard thing.

I personally think you're a player, regardless of gender.

A lot of people I know think you're a whore, regardless of gender.

    Double standard.

Women's Lib, Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem, Sex and the Single Girl and the Sexual Revolution has made the double standard more political than ever.

  • My one coworker and I just had this conversation a few days ago. A friend of his put that same question up on face book, and got this response,

"It is like a lock and key. If you have 1 key that fits many locks, you have a master key, if you have 1 lock, and many keys fit into it, you have a bad lock."

Think that sums up the mentality of most people in society. And I agree with PP, to me, doesn't matter male or female a whore is a whore.

  • I think they'd both be called whores.  I don't think that this double standard exists that much anymore.  Both aren't seen as negative.  I mean who wants to date a man who's just going to make you another notch on the bedpost? and same with women who sleep with a ton of men, a decent man isn't going to want her because she's seen as 'dirty' or untrustworthy, or just plan skanky.
  • for the most part it is double standard, but these days.. man or woman... doesnt matter a whole lot...

i dont like the word "whore" ... who are we to judge?  you see two women... one dressed showing off "her goods"... flirting alot... whatever... unfortunatly i know women who are going to call her a slut or a whore... she could be in a steady commited relationship but will still get called names...then you see girl two... hanging out... seems like a sweet girl... she doesnt flaunt anything or act out... and she takes home 2 dudes... but it wont matter... you dont see it... she doesnt get called bad names...

i am probly not good for the nest... i have learned that everyone judges everyone here...

    how does it help us?

  • We allow it. I call my friends whores all the time. I do it to joke with them. In the same respect, we also allow it in everyday life. I mean, would watching a t.v. show be enjoyable without the sterotypical players and sluts. I do not think so. Look at Jersey Shore, the Bachelor, and every show that VH1 and MTV puts out. All of these shows have huge ratings, which shows we all are allowing this horrible terminology.

  • I'm pretty sure only people in their fifties and above still think this way.

    THIS!!!

that's hilarious! Who comes up with sayings like that lol!

  • A whore is a whore is a whore to me, hehehe. Some idiots still have double standards but honestly I hear it more from women talking about women than men. Which gets me upset because we should be supporting each other than going against each other.

    Perfect analogy!

  • Always been a double-standard, although I think men that sleep with a lot of women are man-shores with a mangina.

    Haha, Duece Bigalow reference.
