We need to paint two bedrooms - the first is the nursery and the second is Ben's man den (which is currently a lovely shade of lavender and features Princess Barbie curtains).
A month or so ago, I had a chat with Ben and convinced him that we should hire someone to do it - obviously I can't deal with the fumes at the moment, and Ben, well...we've painted rooms together before, and let's just say that patience and attention to detail are NOT his strong suit when it comes to renovating. Normally he does the big areas with rollers, and I do all of the edging, etc. Since I won't be able to do that this time, I convinced him that we should hire someone to do it, lest we end up with big splotches of paint all over the place thanks to my honeybunny's impatience.
Today he came up to me and said, "So, I've been thinking about the rooms, and I'd really like to paint them myself." I think I got this look on my face:
. Then he earnestly continued, "I can do it, and I want to, and the babies won't mind if it's not perfect, will they?" Well, I couldn't say no to that lol! I think he's is feeling a little left out of the baby-growing business and wants to contribute to something for them, the sweetie. ![]()
Re: heh, DH is cute :-)
Seriously? HAHA. That's hilarious.
It's very cute and sweet that he wants to do it for them. If the edges are really bad, you can always fix it later after the babies come.
Aw, good daddy!
DH just finished painting our nursery this weekend. I did the taping and he did the paint. He also invited a friend over for the second coat, which made it go by really fast. Can Ben make a man date out of it?!
Gotta love the things these guys are already doing for their babies....
OMG yes. It's epic. It was the bedroom of a 5 year old girl when we bought the place and she must have LOVED it lol. You should see the light fixture - it's made of dangling pink and purple plastic "jewels" the size of silver dollars. I'm so going to have to take before and after shots!
I'm planning on doing the taping like you - I figure that will mitigate some of the damage.
I'm not sure if he'll be able to hook up a man date for it or not...pretty much all of his buds are geeks, and the one thing it's hard to get nerds to help out with is home renovations!
This made me LOL! Too funny.
I think this is adorable. And he's right...if it's not perfect, the babies won't mind and the other room is "his" so he won't mind either. You will though. And you'll either let it go because there are more important things going on or fix it yourself after the babies come. LOL!
Same here. It killed me to see the crib in the box for a week and then in little pieces all over the nursery for another week. There were many times I was like, "I can do this myself." But I didn't. I knew that J would eventually get it done AND how much he really wanted to do it himself. And in the end...he did it and it's perfect. I really learned a lot...that I need to steo back from time to time and just let it be. I am sure I will be recalling this lesson when the baby comes. I have promised him that he'll never hear me say, "you're doing it wrong" when it comes to caring for Libby.

he's totally nesting!
Hos sweet of him to want to do it himself!
I tend to take Vance for granted when he does those sort of things (putting crib/jumperoo/toys/etc) because he's a construction worker and I just assume he'll do it...it's a habit I need to stop.
Will you show us pictures when it's finished?

Definitely! There will be before/after pics galore.
AWWWWWW He's nesting!!!!
Awwww....that is cute! I'm sure he will do a great job!
Almost 20 months later and there are still some edges that need to be fixed in my DD's nursery. It's nice to walk in and look at all the hard work that my DH put into it, and I'm sure you will feel the same way when it's all said & done, even if it's not perfect.
