Re: 6.1 aftershock in Haiti
Oh no, that's horrible.
I saw this during the morning newscast like Kristin. I fear that this wasn't an aftershock... two big earthquakes like that are a sign there's a lot of stress going on there. I hope that these were just two unrelated one-off events and not a sign of something much bigger.
I couldn't help but think "Holy cow - basically all of California is in some kind of natural disaster (mudslide concerns, flooding, and something else, I thought) and poor Haiti is completely destroyed and it keeps hitting them!"

That's kind of what I was thinking... the "big one" was 7.0 and this "aftershock" was 6.1? Not that dissimilar - I mean, if a 6.1 hit California, it would be a big deal. That's not like the ones you don't even feel because you're so used to, right? LOL
That's what I said to MH this morning. Aftershocks don't normally happen a week later. At least, not one the strength of a normal earthquake.
