Re: groin pain
I mentioned my hip and butt pain to my OB today and she immediately offered me a referral to a physical therapist. I declined, since it's not THAT bad and I mostly stretch/massage at home to get through it, but she was pretty insistent that it could help. She told me to call anytime I wanted the referral...
Maybe you can call your OB and mention how debilitating your pain is for you. She might have some suggestions. Not sure if PT could help your situation, but it might be worth a try!
Re: ::redshoegirl::
Oooh i hadn't thought of that! I might mention it to him at my next appointment (which is in...I think about a week and a half?). I know it's normal, but it just seems crazy that it's this painful, you know? I mean, if getting in and out of bed makes me squint my eyes closed and gasp, it just seems a bit extreme...
I've started gently stretching and trying to walk more (it makes my feet puff up but helps warm up the groin muscles a bit), and that did help - I'm also going to get an exercise ball and try that too.
Lis, just as an fyi...excercise balls and pelvic issues/pain are probably not a good mix...
Dunno if you remember me talking about a condition I developed called Osteitis Pubis

Anyway, not saying this is what you have but I was in a lot of pain to the point where I almost needed a walking cane just to get around. I went to a remedial massage therapist who not only takes care of the Aus Olympic team but has doctors (who suffer from the condition) travel to him here in Melbourne, from the US.
Ok, point is...this guy knows his pelvic pains and he made a big point in telling me he wants excercise balls banned because they cause more harm then good. ESPECIALLY when it comes to pelvic issues.
He IS in Melbourne, like I said, but he is worth calling and talking to about what you're going through. He will probably be able to put you onto someone local to you, if not give you good info and advice.

HTH and g'luck!
He fixed my condition and pain in one session. After a physio told me it could take a year to treat. So, yeah, he's pretty damn good!
I do find the ball helpful to stretch my IT bands as well as my inner thighs...which for me, seems to be what's pulling on my pubic bones. I guess you need to check with your doctor to see what the issue is and then try whatever works to alleviate it.
The yoga ball is also really great to prepare for labor and delivery...it opens your pelvic inlet to let the babies drop.

I would definitely keep it in mind! I started going when I had minimal pain (just felt like a minor groin pull) and some of the sessions are as relaxing as a massage. They stretch me in ways I really wouldn't be able to do at home and can really dig into the muscle. I have felt awesome since going. No need to wait for something to get bad.
