I bought a cheapie one that's rubbery and I hate it. Every piece of dust, lint, or crumbs in my purse/diaper bag sticks to it!
Re: rec. your iphone cover
I bought one from this website and loved it!
It was a while ago and the one I bought isn't on there anymore, but they are constantly updating styles.

I've got an iSkin Solo FX and I love it.
To get it a bit cheaper, figure out which one you want, then buy it off eBay. Much cheaper.
The only thing I didn't like about the Solo FX was the mirror screen protector. It made it hard to see the screen outside. It would appear that the Solo FX SE line comes with a clear cover too.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?

My cover is the pink one. My sister has the red and I love it so much more than mine. I also like that if I lose my wallet, I also lose my drivers license and credit card!
I have this iPhone cover - it's two pieces that snap together.
I used to have a white InCase cover (the slider kind) but .. I drop my phone. A LOT. And that was just not durable.
The reason I like the cover I have now is when I drop my phone, either the case spits apart, leaving my phone safe and just laying on the ground... or it totally absorbs all the shock of the fall and my phone - and case - are left unharmed. It's really surprisingly durable.

DH uses a pixelSkin & loves it. It's the most protective silicone skin I've seen & doesn't attract dust like the cheaper ones. I'm a huge fan of the Invisible Shield because I wanted something to protect my phone from scratches, but not add any bulk.
