We had our NT scan today.
Chiclet looks great! I'm mad that they didn't give us any pics...but they were all kinda blurry b/c it's hard to do a ultasound of a 3 inch baby through about 6+ inches of belly fat!

What is a NT scan? I've heard it a few times, but can never remember what it is exactly!

To answer the questions:
The NT scan is a first trimester test that is an ultrasound measurement of the fold at the back of the neck (thick fold my be due to downs syndrome) and a blood test that checks 2 of my blood components. The results will give us the odds of having a baby with downs or one of the other 2 types of trisomy (3 chromosome) genetic abnormalities. Some people use this info to decide whether or not to terminate, to get more testing, or to just be prepared for challenges at birth.
Yes - the tech could have given us an 85% guess at the sex today. She saw the goods! Right now boys and girls still look pretty similar. There is a nubbin that will either become the pen1s or the c/itoris. They can guess at the sex now based on the direction the nubbin is pointing. Up = boy, down = girl.
We chose to keep the sex a surprise until delivery though.

I love that you are keeping the sex a surprise! i want to do that to (when its my turn) but Dh is not on board with that.
