Hubby is Deploying :(

He leaves in May.  Deployment length is "undetermined" at this point (so anywhere from 6-9 months).  I'm absolutely crushed.  He's my best friend and my most favorite person in the entire world.  We've been through a deployment before when I was in college and we were engaged, but this is so different now.  He's my husband and I feel like I can't live without him next to me.  It's so hard. I know I'll be okay because everyone at work is so great and I have great friends and family, but the thought of being away from him for more than 72 hours (typical drill weekend) just makes me want to be sick.  Especially when we're trying to start a family.  If I do get pregnant before he goes, he'll miss the entire pregnancy and birth :(  But, I suppose that's more incentive for him to do the job right and come home in one piece...

Thanks for letting me vent, girls... might be doing that a lot over the next few months...

  • I can't even imagine what you're going through!  Enjoy these few months before he goes and we'll be thinking of you when he is gone (and here if you need us!)

  • We are always here for you to vent and sound off!  I personally can't imagine what you are going through although I have family members who have deployed.  Please thank your husband for his dedication and service to our country.

  • I'm so sorry that anyone has to experience this.  I've been through it for 13 months and it was no picnic, believe me.  You can and will get through this and we'll all be here for you.

Also, please take the deployment month out of your OP for OPSEC reasons.

  • I'm so sorry you have to go through this! I can't possibly imagine how hard it would be.

  • I know how much this sucks.  Hopefully it wont be a long deployment.  My husband got deployed only 6 months after we started dating and was in country for 12 months :( I know how you feel and if you need to talk I am here.
  • I'm so sorry... make sure to take lots of opportunities to enjoy each other over the next few months and best wishes to you and your husband as he deploys!
  • I'm so sorry to hear that your husband is being deployed. While I have no idea what's it is like I will say a prayer for a safe journey home so you can start your family.
  • I'm so sorry your facing this.  Hugs

  • Oh my goodness, thinking of you!

  • I'm so sorry. Saying a deployment is hard is an understatement. DH just got out of active duty and is now reserves. We went through a 15 month deployment that started 6 months after we were married. The hardest thing I've ever had to go through, but some how we got through it.

I found the thing that helped me most was being with other Army wives who's husbands were deployed with him. I don't know how the reserves works, if they have some kind of FRG so you can talk with other wives. They just understood better what I was feeling and many of them had been through it before and were great at answering my questions and keeping me reassured that it would be over soon.

I know you don't know me, but feel free to vent to me or ask me questions : )
