HELP!

Maybe I am overtired or just exhausted from a meeting with a potential florist that I just got home from but.....what do I do about this??

A while back I posted my opinion that wedding DJs tend to be overpriced, and yesterday I received an email from Jon of Powerstation events blasting me for my posting.  I don't really care that he emailed me so much as the fact that he found out who I am and emailed me at work!  My work email is NOT the email I registered with on TK, so I'm wondering, how did he find me?  Do you have any idea?  Is there somewhere my email address is posted- if so I'd prefer to take it down because I'm not interested in receiving angry emails from vendors, upset that I think they're overpriced.

Re: HELP!

  • Does her username have her name or something in it?  Or any other identifying information?
  • It does have her name but no email attached to it.

  • If her real name is her screen name or in her bio, it probably wasn't that hard for him to find her.  I would tell her to create a new screen name and stop using the one with her real name in it.  This is why we advise people not have any personal info on the boards, screen names, or bios.  People are crazy.

  • It's not that hard to find someone's LinkedIn profile and either email them from what's listed as their email address or guess at the company's naming convention (ours is pretty easy here).

Ditto Danieliza - no one should be using their real name, posting identifying info, or using an email address as a screenname (not that she is, but others do...).

I think it is also against the rules for the vendor to contact someone from the boards (?), so ask the OP to email Annie about it if she's still peeved.

Well, it just depends.  With her first name and city and whatever other identifying information she has in her profile/bio, he was probably able to Google enough to get her Linkedin profile or maybe a work bio on a company website or something.  Regardless of how he figured it out, it's a good lesson about internet security and personal info on the boards.
