Woohoo! So, DH wanted to do Vegas for his 30th birthday with a group of friends and his sister who is turning 21. Well, 2 couples were going to go with us (and SIL). First couple backs out because flights are too expensive (spring break and SXSW in Austin). Then SIL backs out because (get this!) FIL won't let her go. So we change the date to avoid spring break, and guy from couple 1 tells us they're in, but it's a surprise for her. Then couple 2 backs out because she has to have surgery and insurance doesn't cover it. That only lasted an hour until HE tells us they're in but it's a surprise. LOL So everyone is getting a surprise except DH, the birthday boy. But I don't care because I've never been to Vegas and I'm so excited for DH that this mostly worked out (minus the sister).
So any tips on what I should do while I'm there? We'll be there Saturday until Tuesday morning, so a decent amount of time to need plenty to do other than gamble.

Re: AW: Vegas is a go! (and a ?)
That sounds like so much fun! We went to Zumanity (the sexy Cirque show) and loved it. I've heard good things about some of the other shows as well.
We also went to see Santana at the Hard Rock Hotel. If you are even kind of a fan and appreciate live music - I cannot recommend this enough. $50/ticket and there is not a bad seat in the house. Plus your ticket will get you into the bars/clubs at the hotel after the show and I've been told that he has had Rob Thomas and DMB as special guests.
Fremont St. was ok but I don't know that I would make it a priority.
Where are you staying?

We went to Vegas for our honeymoon! sooo much fun!
We saw Cirque Beatles Love, and David Copperfield, and went to some really great restaurants and did tasting menus (wayy expensive but we're foodies, and decided to splurge, because Hey, its our honeymoon!) I'd recommend Fleur de Lys in Mandalay Bay (Amazing upscale french restaurant), and Joes Stone Crab at Caesars (great steak and seafood). We also HAD to go to an In-&-Out Burger and FatBurger. They don't have those in NY;-)
If you're looking for a cool bar/lounge, check out Mix at Mandalay Bay. Its wayy up at the top floor and has AMAZING views of the strip at night (even the bathrooms have great views!). We also really liked the Irish pub at NY NY. We went back there several nights.
ohh and we stayed at the MGM signature, more of a couples resort behind the MGM Grand. We LOVED it there.
I'm a Vegas junkie, but I'm also a bit of a Vegas snob. I refuse to go anywhere near downtown/Freemont street. The furthest I've ventured off was to go to the Hard Rock Hotel. I HAVE stayed off strip at The Orleans, but it was before I was 21, which is why I think I still had fun...
So, good things to do:
(1) Watch the Bellagio fountains and the Sirens of TI. Both are free, right out on the strip, and very entertaining.
(2) I loved Zumanity. I also really enjoyed *Phantom* at the Venetian.
(3) Madam Tussad's Wax Museum is a lot of fun. Unlike some of the others (like the one in London) all of the figures are out for you to pose with. In some sections, there are even costumes and props. Here's a picture I took the last time I went (to MT's, not to Vegas):
I also have pictures of me and my girlfriends with Playboy bunny ears on in a heart-shaped bed with Hugh Hefner, punching Angelina Jolie while my BFF is trying to pull Brad Pitt away, playing poke with Ben Affleck, and getting married to George Clooney. It's totally silly but a lot of fun.
(3) The M&M building/The CocaCola Building. Like Madam Tussad's, somewhat non-Vegasy but still a lot of fun. Parts of both are free, or you can pay extra for tours/additional features.
(4) Studio 54 @ MGM Grand. I liked this club, and I'm not a club person at all.
(5) MARGARTIAVILLE! Now, granted, I'm a HUGE parrothead (Jimmy Buffet Fan) but I won't leave Vegas unless I've been to Margaritaville.
Okay, those are my highlights. There's lots of good places to eat, but it's pretty pointless to list them all because (aside from, like, La Salsa) everything is amazing. As far as buffetts go, I really like Treasure Island's. OH! And there's this amazing little Crepe shop in Paris. SOOOOOO tasty.
I wanna go to Vegas now
YAY! I LOVE VEGAS!! It may be my all-time favorite place.
I have stayed at (and loved) The Hotel at Mandalay Bay and The Four Seasons. I've also stayed at The Palms and The Bellagio. I wasn't a huge fan of either of those places as far as staying. I think the Bellagio is terribly overrated. The service sucked and people had major attitudes. The Palms was nice, but I like something more centrally located and HAVE to be on the Strip.
I have heard great things about the Palazzo, supposed to be really nice and a good value--right in the middle of the strip. My friends also stayed at Encore at the Wynn and were pleased and I've also heard Treasure Island is a good value.
As far as shows:
I recommend all the Cirque shows. My favorites in order:
1. "O"
2. Ka
3. Mystere
4. Zumanity
Haven't seen Love, but have heard great things about it. Also, I was interested in seeing La Reve at The Wynn. CIRQUE ROCKS!!
If you want club recs, I can give you those too!
Absolutely! (please?)

I'm kind of weird, but when there wasn't some form of debauchery, shopping, or eating going on, I loved just walking through all the hotels on the strip and looking around. The attention to detail is just crazy.
If you're outdoorsy and/or want something to do that you wouldn't normally think of, we spent a few hours at red rock canyon which was fun.

But again... this was when we needed a break from the debauchery
We did this during the day too. And we rented a cabana for a day and just sat by the pool for 8 hours with drink in hand. I have never been so relaxed in my life.
1. Ghost Bar at The Palms. You just have to go. It's breathtaking and fabulous.
2. Rain at The Palms. It is probably more on the cheesy club side rather than the chic, because it's a true dance club and they make it rain, then singe the dance floor with fire. Gimmicky, but so badass. I have had so much fun every time I have gone there.
3. For more of a relaxed vibe, go to Tryst at the Wynn--it's indoor/outdoor and more lounge-y, which is nice.
4. Pure at Caeser's. Always fun and more upscale.
5. Body English at The Hard Rock. May be my favorite, I have had a celebrity sighting every time I've been there (Mike Tyson, Bam Margera, Johnny Knoxville and Tito Ortiz).
6. I also love, love Tao for the food, but it also turns into a club--can be fun but pretty scene-y.
7. To start the night, my friends and I always go to the Tiki Bar or whatever the name of it is in the Treasure Island Hotel. It is SO CHEESY, like it's a restaurant too. But they make awesome drinks and the drinks are relatively cheap and it's just a fun, cheesy way to start the night because you can be silly and don't have to be all chic.
HTH!
I second Pure at Caesar's!! Every night my friends and I would try somewhere new, but we'd always end up at Pure. We saw Charles Barkley and Jared from Subway there, too.
I seem to remember getting free VIP passes (aka we got to stand in the same short line as Jared!) from a cab driver.
