Hi! I just wanted to introduce myself! My husband and I just moved to the NYC right before the holidays...and we are just getting used to everything here. We just got married in October and right before that he found out that he had gotten a job up here so we moved right after the wedding festivities were over. Any advice you have on the city would be great. I grew up in Florida and the DH grew up in Atlanta, GA(where we just moved from).
Thanks!
Mandy
Re: New to the City
Hello and welcome!
How do you like NYC so far? My H and I just moved here in August and we are having a blast!

welcome! i lived in astoria for 7 years and loved it there. still close to the city but plenty of good restaurants at your doorstep.
ohh - Astoria or Brooklyn are both good options. There are a few of us here that live in Brooklyn. There are a lot of different neighborhoods to choose from. I live in Park Slope and absolutely love it - DH and I are definitely thinking of staying here long, long term. But its also one of the pricier neighborhoods. Other good options in Brooklyn: Ft. Greene, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights/Dumbo, Prospect Heights, Sunset Park, Windsor Terrace, Bay Ridge. Astoria is good too - one of my close friends used to live there. It has a pretty good selection of restaurants, but not as 'neighborhood-y' as maybe other areas. but...i've never lived there so I can't really say.
Welcome again and good luck!
Welcome Mandy! My husband and I are also newly married and new to the city as of August and also reside on the UES! I look forward to getting to know another UES-er (any others?)
Best,
Rose
