Pet related cleaning ?

Sorry this is gross...

DH just called to tell me that the dog had diarhea all over the floor of the loft today (the only place in the house that is carpeted that she could get too - how do they always manage to make the biggest mess possible?  Sort of ruined his lunch hour...

He tried to clean it up and used the entire can of Resolve trying to get out the stains for the past hour with no luck.  The carpet is light gray and he says it looks terrible.  Any suggestions for a stronger cleaner?

Re: Pet related cleaning ?

  • I've never used it, but I've heard rave reviews about Folex. Angelfire also posted about it on her blog once.

  • Also make sure once you get the stain up that you soak the entire area with a pet enzyme cleaner like Natures Miracle.  Even if you are able to clean the carpet to where YOU can't see/smell it with a regular cleaner, your dog will still be able to and is therefore more likely to go in that spot again.
  • We use Woolite Oxy Deep for all of our pet related stains...works like a charm.  Anything with the oxyclean "technology" works great...spray it on and let it sit for 5-10 min.  Then blot, don't rub.  Ditto Fancy with the Nature's Miracle after though.  GL!  Poor pup!

  • Spot Shot from sams club works wonders.  I'm telling you I removed a 2 year old red wine stain with that stuff once.

  • OdoBan (link here: http://cleancontrol.com/OdoBanRetail/OdoBan_Odor_Eliminator.html )

That stuff is literally the only thing I have found that will completely get rid of pet odor.  Found out about it from my mom's friend who had an old dog that continued using the same rug in their house because, even after intense cleaning, the rug still had odors obvious to the dog so it continued to use the rug.  It wasn't until she cleaned it with OdoBan that it finally removed all odors, even those just detected by the dog, and the dog never used the rug again.  It is the only stuff I'll use now.

  • Folex is a life saver. It cleaned up dog puke at my parents' house and it's been sprayed all over my house with the new puppy. No stains so far!
