House Offer Update

BOO!!!! We didn't get the house. Another offer came in 'considerably' higher then the asking price.

Anna - We are looking in Milford and Orange since my MIL will be caring for the baby full time. She also wants to watch the baby at our house and does not drive on highways. So we have to stay close. People just don't move out of Orange until they die I swear. But we have expanded our search to include Woodbridge although the taxes there are OUTRAGEOUS!!!

  • It sure can get discouraging. Hang in there! Look at it this way, your future home has just not found you and your family yet!

Sending loads of good house hunting vibes.

  • Hi Heather!  I'm sorry your offer didn't go through!  I agree with Tara and Kriss...the house that's meant for you will come along.  Hang in there and keep positive!
  • I'm sorry!

Something will come through for you!

  • That means something better will come along :-).When we were looking to buy a house, we were set on this one particular house. It was available for the longest time but it was already under contract by the time we were ready to make an offer. We didn't get it BUT found our current house. It was  bigger, price was better and we love it :-). Stay positive! GL!!
  • I echo Ericka... That does mean something better will come along! Hang in there. Also, did you mean Milford and Orange, NEW JERSEY???? Because DH's mom lives in West Orange (where he grew up) and we go up there several times a year! I'd love to gtg with you once you move there!! (And you WILL get a house!)

  • Awwwww..... :(  So sorry to hear that....  sending you more house hunting vibes!
  • BOOO! How frustrating!

But I'm with the other girls - something even better will come along, I know it! When we were house hunting, there were several places we really liked but didn't end up getting - and even though it was disappointing at the time, I'm SO glad we didn't, because the place we ended up buying is way better for our needs than any of those other houses! I know the same thing will happen for you!

  • i missed your previous post - sorry you didn't get the house. that's crazy that all these ppl are bidding now.  if you see a house that you love and must have then something to consider is a different kind of offer - i saw this on house hunters - they will put in an offer for "X amount or $1000 more than the highest offer" - this allows the buyer to get the house w/o having to overbid on it....just something to keep in mind as an option
