So, speaking of showers

My friend's shower is in March.  I'm put off b/c a 21 yo coworker is hosting the shower (yes, this is the one from my rant last week) but I'm trying to be a good sport.  Said coworker agreed that I could "help" but emailed me today saying she's got the theme picked out, decorations, games and food under control - but I could help.  Um, sure.

ANYWAY, the one thing she did ask me to do was bring a diaper cake.  I was planning to and had offered already, but ok.  Now, all of the guests have been asked to bring a package of diapers or wipes for some prize thing.  They've invited 60 people!  So here are my questions - should I use bigger diapers, because she's going to be inundated with NB and size 1?  I'm also thinking about making the center item a bottle of champagne, so they can toast their little dude, instead of the usual bottle of lotion/bottle of pedialyte.  Thoughts?

Re: So, speaking of showers

  • Since they'll be out of the box, I'd do the smaller size.  Or maybe the "night time" type.  And I think the champagne is a great idea.

This.  She will probably be happy to get some bigger sized diapers.

  • I would say use the bigger ones...when I've made diaper cakes in the past the bigger ones were easier to use, and they can keep them on display til it is time to use the diapers!

The champagne sounds like a GREAT idea too!!  Good luck and BOO on the 21 year old co worker!!

  • Just a thought... question, really.  Will she be breastfeeding and are you allowed to drink during BF?  Just thinking sparkling cider might be a good option, too...

Don't you hate it when you want to help and you get knocked off?  Well, at least your cake will be happenin' and you can make it how you want to!

  • She's asked for bottles, so I don't know if she's BF, formula feeding or both.  I'm sure the champagne won't be wasted.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should do a more elegant/modern cake or more fun.  Hmmmmm, decisions, decisions...
