FYI - taxes...

If your income for a year jumps 3X the amount it was the previous year, do some research on what is appropriate to claim on your W4s!!!  We just found out that we will owe about $7800 to federal, and haven't done state yet.  Usually DH is so on top of financial things, but we were really clueless on this one!

Re: FYI - taxes...

  • Wow, that really sucks! I'm sorry.

  • OUCH!  The IRS (Feds) do have payment plans if need be.  I'm sure the state does as well but we've never had to use the state one.
  • That really stinks!  State will be better.

Look on the bright side Becky, you made 3x as much!!!  Really though, I'm sorry.

  • hmm, I will look into filing separate.  The good news - we are completely debt free so we just might be able to pull this off by April 15 :-) And - we actually get $300 back from state, so some good news there!
  •  I know how you feel, we owed a lot last year.  Glad you are debt free and can prob pay it off!   And they do have payment plans for what you cant pay that are pretty easy to set up!
  • We made less this year and had a kid and we are getting nothing back when last year we got about $3000 back. How does that work? (Rhetorical question, I don't expect anyone to answer that, it just sucks).
