I've never posted over here but judging by the IUD questions already posted I trust you ladies will have the answer. I'm considering haveing one put it, and I have no kids. I'm also not entirely sure if I'll want them. My question is, if in 2 or 3 years, I decide I want to have a child, can the IUD be removed ahead of the 5 years?

Yes it can be removed whenever you want.
You may have to check, but some doctors will not allow you to have an IUD if you have not had a child. My doctor let me have one (w/o having kids), but my cousin tried to get one from her doctor and he told her there was no way he would allow it.
Definitely check with your insurance about the insertion and removal charges, some insurance cover them completely...mine did, it was just a co-pay like a regular visit.
I got mine put in 2 years ago and removed about a month ago because of TTC. I also could not take the BCP due to medical issues with it and talk to your doctor about that, so they understand why you want it,
GL!
I am getting an IUD next month and Planned Parenthood was the only place I have called that would do it. My PCP said he didn't do it for women who didn't have children.
Mostly it is a comfort issue for Dr.s but as far as I know all Planned Parenthood's will do it no problem. I actually go in for my consult Thurs.
