AT&T Uverse?

I think DH and I have pretty much had it with Time Warner--we don't have what I call "fancy cable" (i.e. digital), and they just took away a whole bunch of channels that we really enjoyed.  We've not been pleased with them for a long while now, and so we are now looking around for alternatives. Today we received an advertisment in the mail for AT&T Uverse.  DH asked me to ask my "Nestie internet girlfriends" for recs.  For those of you have it, do you like it?  Why or why not?  Is there something else that you like better?  If so, what is it and why do you like it better?  We want to look at all of our options before making a decision.

:-)

Re: AT&T Uverse?

  • Love love love it! We have phone, internet and cable( 2 boxes). We love the DVR, we record tons of movies for rainy/lazy days. There have only been one or two times we have had issues with the show playing acting like it was having issues downloading. I believe that for all of that our monthly bill is around 100. I have worked out deals before with them for price reductions. That usually only last about 6 months or so depending on their current special.

If you have any specific questions Ill do my best to answer!

  • We really like it. The installation was a nightmare because nobody seemed to have the same information, but the actual service (we have phone, internet, and digital cable) are great and we have never had a problem. We are saving $ by having all three combined. I want to say that we pay ~$130 a month. The internet service is wireless and has been awesome!

  • Our install was a pain too.... but only because they had to put in all new everything. So they had several techs out taking care of everything. Just took alot longer then we expected.

  • we just got it last week - we use it for phone, internet and tv - we love it!

i like being able to access the dvr in any room, and (trivial) but i prefer the guide. :)

  • We just got it a couple weeks ago, and so far so good! :) I really like how the DVR groups recorded shows together... like, all my Oprah is in one place, not spread out like Tivo.

  • we've had it for almost a year now - switched from dish network for tv and time warner for cable modem. saving about $20 a month for tv and internet. installation took a little longer. whoever handled phone service at our house before us (we don't have a landline) must've clipped some wire at some point, so they had to re-lay some wire to hook us back into the system.

internet speed is noticeably faster than time warner. it used to draaaaaaaag in the evenings.

we love all the HD channels. our biggest annoyance (and only annoyance, really) is that sometimes our main box doesn't respond to the remote even after we got a new remote. i fear having to call at&t and ask them to replace our box. would that delete all of our current recordings? do you know how long it took to find all my shows and set them up??!? haha.
