First off, thank you so much for all of the positive wishes regarding starting my chaplaincy internship! Orientation went awesome and I am really excited about what is ahead! MH is currently doing the same type of internship at a different hospital and as we were comparing notes, I am very glad to be at Gaston! The program is very structured and they match you up with a chaplain mentor so they don't just completely dump you out on your own when you start on-call hours. My on-calls will primarily be on Friday nights (5pm-8:30am) and it was comforting to know that the first 3 or 4 weeks, I will have someone with me. So the positive nestie vibes really helped!
In adoption news, we have a courtdate this coming Wednesday the 27th to terminate the birthfather's parental rights (I'm not sure if they ever even found the guy) but once that is done we can file our petition and our adoption can be finalized! Woo-hoo!
In addition, when we first brought Abby home our agency recommended filing for state adoption assistance (as they recommend for all adoptive parents). They couldn't assure that we would receive anything but its worth a shot. We submitted all of our paperwork and just got word Friday that we were approved! I about fell out of my chair when I read the letter! We definitely were not expecting it. It will be a nice way to replenish our savings from taking an unpaid maternity leave and will provide an awesome start to Abby's college fund!
Re: Good news!
Glad orientation went well and you get to work with someone to start.
That is great news about the adoption assistance, congrats.

Yay, thanks for updating us!
I love starting the week of positive. I'm so happy for you and your family!
My ankle is still pretty sore. I tried using it on Saturday and that wasn't a smart idea. I tried to stay off my feet as much as possible yesterday. I'm still going to try to use my crutches a couple more days. Thanks for asking!
