Reminder: Triad/GSO Nestie GTG next Thursday 1/28
At Refs http://www.refsgreensboro.com/ Um, I'm going to see if we can reserve the VIP room (if possible) if not, can I please get a show of hands for those thinking they were going to attend. I don't think we discussed a time yet.....though. I know Buckin and one of her friends couldn't make it before 6pm. Would 6pm or 7pm be better for you ladies? I was thinking later might be more conducive to people eating dinner at home and just ordering either something light and/or dessert or drinks instead of a full meal.
Please respond to the post if you can come--and let me know what time you'd prefer. TIA!
Re: Reminder: Triad/GSO Nestie GTG next Thursday 1/28
I plan to be there. Either time works for me.
I saw in the Rhino Times that they are having a Schmoozefest at REFS that day, which I believe is from 6-8. I have never been to one of those, so I do not know how that impacts the run of restaurant or where they are typically held.
*raises hand
7 would be great
Alright chickadees. It looks like we'll have to choose another place, unfortunately. Apparently the Schmoozefest is pretty popular at Refs--it starts at 6pm and they apparently have a waiting line for most of the night--they have around 300+ people come in and out that night.
We could always keep it close and go to Village Tavern instead, but I'm afraid everyone that can't get into Refs will just go there and we'll battle similar crowds...
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I was thinking of maybe Phoenix Asian Cuisine, right on New Garden off Bryan Blvd so that it wouldn't be too inconvenient for our non-GSO nesties, but I've never been so I don't know if the atmosphere and/or seating situation would be conducive to our group. Do they have a bar area where we might be able to sit or if we get a regular table, is it the kind of place where some of us could just get drinks and/or appetizers and not feel totally guilty? (My other idea was Imperial Koi, above the new location for Pie Works closer to Battleground on New Garden but from the reviews I've read online, it's much more upscale and it didn't sound like there was a bar area to speak of). I'm thinking 7pm sounds like it works better for at least 2 of us (including me) so we'll go with that time at least. But give me your feelings about Phoenix as a location please!
Thanks!!
Does the Village Tavern take reservations? I know the Schmoozefest offers free food and drinks, so not sure if people will just wait it out at REFS or not.
It is not a great atmosphere, but there is East Coast Wings. There is also Buffalo Wings and Rings off New Garden (near Fresh Market).
I like the idea of something in the New Garden area....but have NO IDEA what this phoenix restaurant is, i'll have to google.
I totally love you guys already.
Cridey and 715--Phoenix is on New Garden in the shopping center behind Carrabas--it's right off Bryan Blvd. The brand spanking new strip mall place is the Imperial Koi I mentioned.
Curbside, I think VT does take reservations, so I think that is still a possibility. I had also thought of the wings places you had mentioned as well--I didn't really have a good reason for crossing them off my list, sooo if you like one in particular, I wouldn't mind going to either of those as well.
I have never been to Phoenix but would be willing to try it. I do not have a strong attachment to either wing place, just figured I would throw out some ideas in that area.
Just to make it more confusing, we could also consider restaurants in The Friendly Center. Mimi's Cafe and Harpers are both good.
I've got it down on my calendar! I'm very excited.
Just an FYI though, if I don't show up, don't hate me. I've been VERY Sick the past few weeks (nothing contagious don't worry- bad allergy attacks in the lung area) so if I am having trouble breathing that night, i won't come.
I'm hoping to be there though!
I hope you feel better soon.
