You guys alluded to it below; did this actually happen? ?Lilm's still around, PGH is around, Tef is around, caden is just taking a bit of time for other reasons, right??

Sibil, yours makes a lot of sense and isn't really a GBCA06/E08; you're moving and dealing with crap! ?I assume that's what our missing people have done.?

I think most of the our regular conservatives are gone. Or they are here lurking and occasionally posting, but if you haven't noticed, most of them just aren't participating in the political discussions anymore. I asked a question about McCain's health care plan this morning on both boards and only Meganne answered. I don't think there's an been any official exodus, but I think a lot of them are cutting back.
I actually have almost nothing to do until I get my paperwork. Once that happens, pure chaos. Until then, boredom. I've done everything I can do to prep. Now I just hurry up and wait.
I think people are burned out on the election in general. Couple that with the troll invasion and constant moving, and I'm not surprised that people aren't fighting to stay involved and are drifting away.
I don't understand this response? No one has GBCN and I'm not going to name them?
I don't spend much time at all on E08 anymore--I tend to agree with LMW in that it's very MLesque. I am sure there are some posts of value over there but there's too much crap to wade through. I still spend time over here, and while it's not terribly active and there aren't many political discussions, I think we could change that if we want to. We've all spent time complaining about how things are different, but what are we doing to fix it? I know we have fewer members over here, but when I first started posting on E08 over a year ago there weren't a ton of posters, and those were still the "good old days".
Tef, you're one of the most vocal about not liking the way things have become. All I can suggest is that you stay above the fray and not stoop to anyone's level, if it bothers you so much. Post meaningful posts and start threads about issues like you used to. We should ALL make an effort to do that.

Katie, I've enjoyed your posts on the Wall Street meltdown, though! You've been the first to post a lot of information, and even when I haven't responded, I've read them. I guess it's frustrating that only a few people read those sorts of posts on the new board, though.
You are right that I should stay above the fray, but it is near impossible now when being bombarded by constant snark (which then, for better or worse, brings it out in me as well) or the standard "what's the point?" It has been written in by newbies and by regulars. How does one have an intelligent debate with that? If you have learned (brookles or anyone), please let me know.
As for the conservatives going to lurkdom--I agree. I became busy with my new responsibilities last week, but when I came home and saw all the bs, I lost interest. I can only take so many repeat posts of the same thing and when a new topic is brought up against Obama or McCain, you are told you are an idiot (if you agree with McCain) or "what's the point?" or "that is out of Rove's playbook" (if you post something questioning Obama). So, I moved over to a non-E08 board just to get my nest fill when time permitted.
I am trying to make an effort, but then the board just reverts back for some reason. I am doing my best to avoid posters that I disagree with (their tactics, that is). I think many of our regulars need to do the same when it comes to one they do not care for, imo. I think we all, myself included, can benefit from that.
Whoops! Sorry - I had started to respond, but then I had to run to a lunch meeting. When I returned, I had lots of work to do, so I never got back to it.
We should discuss, though.
Oh, and yes, I know of one person who has GBCA06'ed, at least until Nov 5.

I guess 2 people did actually GBCA06 in the traditional sense, but I don't think they ever posted a "GBCA06 post", which is usually the tradition in GBing, lol.
Oh, I only know of 1... but people who actually post GBCN posts are doing so in order to be drama queens and burn bridges. These people don't want to do that. They just want to take a step back and not get so wrapped up in things. kwim?

Didn't we have a thread a long time ago where we agreed to announce it if we decided to GBCE08 so people didn't worry? So it wouldn't be AW-ish.

These mysterious people should take breaks if they need them and certainly don't owe us an explanation-- I've taken E08 breaks and come back much rejuvenated. It's just nice to know when people disappear.
This is exactly what I meant and noticed...
As a Indi voting GOP this time around, I think one of the biggest issues was Voldemort. I think she turned so many people against GOP voters that anyone who was also conservative felt uncomfortable posting.
Then the personal slams started. And I think it went downhill from there.
I'm here and am happy to chime in when I am able or have the knowledge to respond.
