POLL: what do you say?

alright, ladies.  i need your input.  yesterday i was at a script reading for a movie that i am going to help out on.  when i was reading a line a statement came up that i have never used or ever heard a girl use.  i told the director this and he insist that girls say it.  so i want to know what you say.  thanks ladies!

Re: POLL: what do you say?

  • I voted "other".

I typically don't announce that I'm going to the bathroom.  If I have to say something, it's something along the lines of, "I'll be right back", or, "Excuse me".

I do say, "I have to pee" to Brett though.  He's the only one I'd really say something like that to.  (Ah, the comforts of marriage!)

ETA: I would never, EVER say "I have to tinkle".  Ever.

  • Honestly it depends on who is around.

I say "tinkle" to Katy (not the above Katy but my Katy).  For the dog I say, "do your business".

  • I say "Mommy has to tinkle" or excuse my self to go to the ladies room.
  • I say them all depending on whose around. I'll admit to occasionally saying tinkle but only around my very best friends when joking.
  • It depends. If I'm with people that are not so close I say "Excuse me I'm going to the ladies (or ladies/room)"

If I'm surrounded by friends I say..."***...I gotta pee like a racehorse" OR..."I'm gonna water the grass"...hehehehe...does that bring back some memories? hehehehehe

  • I voted for "I'm going to the restroom." Mainly because I think that's close enough to "I'm going to the bathroom." which is what I actually say. If I'm with Ted or my close friends I may say "OMG I have to go to the bathroom so bad!" But I generally always use bathroom, and I never say tinkle.
  • if i am at work i would say " i'm going to the restroom"

around family and friends "i gotta go pee"

  • At work, "I'm going to the ladies' room, I'll be right back."

    At home, "Gotta pee."

  • I'm laughing at the thought of tinkle...if I am in a group that includes the company of the little ones I excuse myself.

The never ending questions that accompany my vague explanation and the inevitable, "Can I come?" do have me giving a more detailed response- aka, "mommy has to potty." "Do YOU have to potty?" "Are you sure???"Stick out tongue

  • I have at various times said all of the above and other.  My grandmother used to say Tinkle.  So every now and then I break it out, but I either say pee or bathroom.

    Haha - same here!

    I voted other.

  • If I am around friends or my husband or family, I would say "I'll be right back - I have to pee", but if I were at work or in another public place around people who are not listed above, I would say "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom".
  • I voted other too because I never say I'm going to go anywhere.  I either say I have to pee or I have to go to the bathroom but never I'm going to go *insert noun here*.
  • I voted for "I'm going to the restroom" although I say bathroom.
  • I voted "I'm going to go pee."  If it's a more formal occastion I'll usually say "I'm going to the washroom."
  • The friends and family get pee and if I am in public I say restroom.
  • I say a lot of things depending on the situation.  If I'm walking upstairs and DH asks me where I'm going I'll say "I gotta pee."  If I'm at a restaurant with DH only I'll say "I have to go use the pooper" (the Pooper is what my Grandpa called it).  If I'm at a restaurant with other people I'll say "I need to go check out the ladies room" or something like that.  Usually if I'm around other people I don't say "pee" or "poop".  But with DH and my close friends I tend to be rather vulgar.
  • I picked "I'm going to the restroom" although if its less formal I'll say bathroom. If it's DH and I in a car I'll say hurry up or I'm going to pee my pants...haha

This exactly. Eric is the only one I would ever announce it to. I would not use tinkle, potty yes, tinkle no.

  • I say "I'm going to the bathroom". It's pretty much like saying you're going to the restroom, but I still put other.

It also kind of depends on who I'm talking to. If I'm talking to my husband I'd probably say "I have to pee". Anyone else and I'd say bathroom.
