Anyone live in Mariemont?

DH and I are long-time Hyde Parkers. We're maybe looking to buy soon and have thought about Mariemont as a potential location as well. It seems to be a cute area with good schools, but coming from our current location we are concerned about feeling isolated and having access to the gym, restaurants, etc. Anyone have insight on the area?

Re: Anyone live in Mariemont?

  • We moved there in April of last year from Anderson and absolutely love it!!  I love the small community feel.  I don't belong to a gym so I'm not sure about the distance to that, but everything else is great!  There are a couple nicer restaurants right in Mariemont (The National Exemplar, The Quarter Bistro, and The Dilly Deli) you also have a few fast food restaurants, but you have everything else within a 10-15 minute drive, you have Kenwood right up the road that has anything you could possible need.  I would definitely recommend the area!

Let me know if you have any questions about anything!

  • Timmy'sgal lives in mariemount. You might want give her a shout out.

I don't live far from mariemont and I don't think it is isolated at all. It is not hard to jump on 50 and be downtown very quickly. Plus you would be amazed how all the back street connect to get you to different parts of town very quickly.

As for gyms, Cincinnati Sports Club is a really nice gym and not far at all.

  • It's a great area, you can walk to damn near anything. Property taxes are higher though, so you need to be prepared for that. DH and I love spending time in Mariemont, even though we don't live there.
  • We lived in Mariemont for 3 years. I believe it is so close to many things. Hyde Park is only 7-10 minutes away and so is Kenwood. Both areas have anything you can think of. In Mariemont they have some good restaurants, Graeter's ice cream, the movie theater, Starbucks. It's a beautiful area. Oh, and you're close to downtown! So if you like going to Reds/Bengals games, you've got that going for you:)

  • I love Mariemont - if I could live anywhere in the Cincy metro area, that's where I would choose (unfortunately it will probably be out of our price range when we buy our next house.) It's such a cute, charming area with tons of stuff within walking distance, and so close to Kenwood and downtown. I also love Dilly Deli, it's one of my favorite restaurants.
  • Hi!  I live in Mariemont.  We love it.  We just rent and the income taxes are lower than City of Cincinnati (1.5% I think vs. 2.25 % for Cincinnati).

We do not feel isolated whatsoever.  In fact, most of my friend still live in they Hyde Park/Mt. Look out area and it's so easy to get to them.  It's very quiet and we are very happy here.

If you aren't sure, why not rent in Mariemont for a year?  Or 6 months?  Test it out.  It's a big decision.
