S/O What face care products for a late 20-something?
I don't know what to use to keep from making myself look old as I get old, but I know the sooner I start the better.
Right now I use Pond's Cold Cream (I found a recipe to make my own once this is gone - woot!) in the evening with my Clarisonic. Kind of a fake OCM because I don't like making time for the steaming aspect.
I use Alba's Green Tea & Aloe moisturizer in the AM.
I try to use sunblock every day, and have used J/A/S/O/N in the past, but it makes my face look sun-blocky. I very, very, very rarely wear makeup. Are there any good sunblocks I can use that won't make me look gross?
What about stuff to slow signs of aging?
Re: S/O What face care products for a late 20-something?
The main things are moisturizing from within and without, and sunblock. And not pulling on your face!
Sunblock is a tough one for me. I don't want to put all that crap on my face, but the natural ones tend to be more obvious. And I don't like putting stuff on my face anyhow, and we so rarely have any sun (yes yes I know, you can get sun damage even if its not sunny, but still, its Seattle people). Anyhow, I'll just admit, I suck at this. I do wear mineral powder makeup which acts as a natural sunscreen, but not all that often.
i do wear makeup.. so i never wear sunblock on my face because my foundation has spf, so i'm not much help with this.
i've just mostly been using coconut oil to cleanse and remove makeup and i've found that it moisturizes well too.
I'm 27, I don't wear makeup either, and I'm pretty protective of my genetic-lottery-winning skin. I found it rather difficult to find a more natural daily moisturizer with SPF, like Alisha says they leave something to be desired. I've been using Avalon Organics (http://www.avalonorganics.com/?id=82&pid=252) for awhile now and it's fine enough. It's a little more sunblock-like than moisturizer-like, and it can irritate my eyelids if I get too much too close.
If I ever remember to wash my face at night, I use a body shop Vitamin E cream and just rinse before putting on the Avalon in the morning. I'll be looking for something else when that runs out.
I do have a problem area around my eyes; I have dark circles with droopy spots developing under the outer corners (genetic lottery loss), so I just started using Origins Eye Doctor (http://www.origins.com/templates/products/sp_nonshaded.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY5811&PRODUCT_ID=PROD275).
I know the board is up in the air on Burt's Bees, but about 6 months ago I started using BB's "Ageless" Nightcream- I'm 29 and just wanted to be proactive about my skin. I swear I've noticed a difference- I have pretty good skin in general, but it's even better now. I wear it probably 4 nights a week. Plus a little goes a long way- I bought it back in August and I still have half a jar left.
During the day, I use an Aveda moisturizer with an SPF 15 in it- I have to have the sunscreen because I work outside all year round
I really like the Devita SPF moisturizer - it's SPF 30 and goes on nice and smooth and does not leave you with white face! Plus the ingredients are pretty good.
Ingredients: Active Ingredient: Micronized zinc oxide: 14% (transparent)
Inactive Ingredients: Purified water, certified organic aloe vera gel, capric/caprylic triglycerides (derived from coconut oil), stearic acid, vegetable glycerin, hyaluronic acid, glyceryl stearate (from vegetable oil), lecithin, vitamin E (acetate), allantoin, comfrey root extract, grape seed extract.
I'm also using Avalon Organics Vitamin C Cream at night. Here are the ingredients to that one.
I'm 26. I use MyChelle's facial line. The Perfect C Serum is amazing. I also use the fabulous eye cream, fruit enzyme scrub, clear skin serum, and pumpkin renew cream. I pretty much swear by MyChelle.
