  • I would of probably punched her in the face, so good job staying calm.
  • Uhhhh

I think you should ask her if she's pregnant too. Would that be sufficiently rude? Then when she says she's not, ask her what her problem is.

LMAO, Pesca.  That is a HILARIOUS response.

  • WTF is it about pregnancy that makes people think it's okay to ask rudeass questions?

I haven't been PG,. but when I hear some of the things my friends have been asked, yikes!

Sorry you had to have that kind of conversation. AB sounds like a morAn.

  • I had a not very close friend post on my facebook wall "are you preggo yet?".  As a 37 year old woman who has had some difficulties in this regard, it really irritated me.
  • I have resigned to the fact that I'm just never going to understand people. Ever.
  • wooowww... usually I excuse people for saying the typical dumb stuff to pg ladies, but that is BAD!?

Whoa.  I'm sorry to hear that, elena.  That's not helpful :(

I'm guessing people who haven't struggled with infertility or don't know anyone who has just aren't sensitive to how prevalent it is.  But that doesn't excuse the kinds of comments made to you, in any way.

Thanks Soprano!   The odd thing is this woman can't get pregnant (or carry to term perhaps), so she had a surrogate carry her child.  I'd think someone who'd experienced it would be extra cautious about such things.

  • Holy crap! What is wrong with people!?!? "I heard you had to see a specialist"????? Who says that!?!?! Unless you're about to confide that you need to see a specialist too and are looking for a recommendation, that's SUCH an inappropriate thing to say, I don't even know where to start.?

    ?

I've learned that the best answer to anything pregnancy related is " I don't know" or "We haven't decided yet." Totally cuts people off and leaves them with no way to criticize or judge. ?

  • And I almost missed this!!!

AB: How's the baby?? Are you still pregnant?

    ?

Um...what if the answer was "no"!?!?!? How insensitive of a question is that!?!??

  • OMG! ?That's horrible! ?I'm sorry. :(

Elena, I'm really sorry that you've had a rough time, too, and that your friend is not so sensitive.  Ugh.

And yes, she always asks me if I'm "still pregnant?"  What if the answer was no?

You should say that to her next time.

    "Are you still pregnant?"
"What if my answer was no?"

Put her on the spot- she deserves it.
