Need Brainstorming Help Re: Local Venues

My best friend and her husband will be married 5 years this May. They are doing a vows renewal at their church on a Saturday afternoon, and they would also like to have a small "reception-like" party afterwards. I'm helping her plan.

We are trying to find a small venue (30-40 people) where we could bring in our own food/drink and also maybe have a small spot for a DJ to set up. We live in NKY and that's where her church is, so something within 20 minutes of downtown in any direction would be preferred.

 Any ideas?

  • Does her church have a space?  Ours does but they don't allow alcohol.

  • Oh, also a VFW, Eagles, Knights of Columbus hall, etc.  You could rent a lodge at one of the City of Cincy parks, maybe one of the NKY parks might have lodges?

  • If the church has a hall, I'd look into that.  I know mine allows alcohol, and many of the other catholic churches around here do as well.  You could also look into renting a senior center- edgewood and independence come to mind.  Ft Thomas and Southgate also have community centers that can be rented out.

  • York St Cafe has a gallery upstairs that I've heard they rent out for various types of gatherings.
  • Maybe you could try local Bed & Breakfast locations.  I know there are a few around Bellevue & Newport.  The Weller Haus comes to mind, but I don't know what's the maximum number of guests they can hold and if you are allowed to bring in your own food, but it never hurts to ask!

    Hope this helps!
