So, they didn't do anything this morning with my dad. HE went and his heart rate was normal, so they just. did. NOTHING. Both my parents are so mad because his heart rate can be normal and then just start racing. My mom asked if they'd do the ablation - nope. She asked if they'd at least have him wear a monitor for 48 hours and they said again - nope. The next time his heart rate accelerates he's supposed to go to the ER after TWELVE HOURS. WTF?!?! My mom basically told them that they may be back in a month for his next appointment, but hopefully not as they'd be looking for a referral to the University Hospital and Clinics. I don't think you can just play a waiting game when the heart is involved, so I'm glad they're being proactive about it.

Re: Update
He should go to a heart doctor for furhter testing. The ER is just there to make sure he isnt in failure , and if nothing is happening while he is there it's protocal to send him home.
I know it's frustrating! Glad he is ok though.
This was at his cardio appointment today - he was supposed to get checked for clots around the heart then have his heart shocked back into normal rhythm.
I don't know much about the situation, but have they ruled out panic/anxiety attacks? My heart races at times (not much anymore since I'm on meds) when I'm having an attack and then slows down within minutes.
Still....I think they should at least have him wear a monitor.
Thoughts & prayers are with him that they figure out what is going on.
Initially his GP wondered about this because he has been super stressed with his mom being in a nursing home, but they have ruled it out. They keep going back and forth between an atrial flutter and atrial fibralation (?I'm not sure how to spell that, we just call it a.fib. at work).
My mom said it best, "It feels like there's a ticking time bomb in my husband's chest."
Thanks for the T&P ladies. I'll keep the pressure on them to go do something about it!
