What do you guys think of Obama's proposed spending "freeze"?
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/01/25/obama-seek-freeze-budget/
I think, even though it will only save around $15B a year (which is a lot of money but not when we are in the trillions in spending) it's not a horrible idea. I mean, you have to start somewhere in order to get this back in control. I haven't heard any better ideas, but I also realize it may hurt some people. Thoughts?
Re: WDYT?
(I'll give this a second shot - I replied but the Nest ate it.)
I give the man props for trying... it's more than I can say for the rest of the government officials. Unfortunately, even if Obama came up with the perfect resolution for all of the national problems, the House &/or Senate would shoot him down. I don't even pay attention to political talk anymore because, IMO, I might as well stop at a school and watch the Kindegarteners during playtime. That's about the same attitude that's blanketing our government right now (both sides... NO ONE is willing to work with one another anymore.)
I agree with Mandy and the official quoted in the article - it's a step in the right direction, at least. Instead of instantly cutting this idea down (like some of the reaction automatically is doing), I thought the whole point of having REPRESENTATIVES of the people was so they could DISCUSS and work toward the best solution all around. Because you didn't build a $12 trillion deficit in a year... or even a term,... and you sure as heck can't expect to get out of it in the same time. But small steps can at least REDUCE or move us toward a resolution.
Then again... that'd require cooperation and compromise.
