Re: Grooming
I picked other, not because I'm creative, but because it depends on time of year/occassion/money.
If/when I have the money, I get waxed regularly. Being a poor grad student again, that's been relegated to summers/special occassions. Hopefully when I have a full time job, I'll be able to go more consistently again.
I've done both and to be honest, the pain was about the same. It stings the moment they rip it off, but then the pain goes away pretty fast. I like it just cause it's fast, easy, and lasts longer than shaving!
Actually, the bikini area is what hurts the worst! In order of most painful to least painful: sides, front, under-carriage.
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
Full monte.
And it's not that painful at all. In fact, I think eyebrows hurt worse.
Full monte, and SBS is on crack cause it hurts like hell. But like Chrissy says, it's the bikini part that hurts. There is no additional pain when you go from bikini to brazilian. I've found that if we do the painful parts last, it goes better. If you start with the sides, the pain anticipation makes the rest hurt.
ETA: I shaved for years, but the benefits of the waxing are so great I don't plan to stop unless I go really broke or get preggo. I assume it's frowned upon to do that while PG?
My Bio (wedding pics added 7/6)
My 101
I have the schick trimmer thing and it's pretty amazing. It's really easy and it takes up a lot less time than shaving does.
And I always let it grow out a little bit before going to the gyno. I don't know why but I feel like my male doctor shouldn't see it bare down there. I'm sure he's seen it all, but I just don't feel right having him see it when I do it for my husband.
I was told that it is way more painful to get any form of waxing done when pregnant or during your period. Your body hangs onto all that hair to keep you warm!
I used to get regular Brazilian waxing done, but after I spoke with my hairdresser and confirmed what she said with my OBGYN, I refuse to do it and shave instead. In fact, I will only get my eyebrows waxed in places I know don't do any sort of nether-region waxing at all now.
Apparently, you can get herpes from waxing. The wax pot never reaches a temperature high enough to kill the virus, and it actually keeps the wax warm enough to keep the virus alive and thriving. It is especially likely if they reuse the spatula/sticks or strips in any way, but it is possible to get it just from the wax itself if the pot is re-used (like almost all are).
Sorry to be the debbie downer, but I figured you girls would rather know than not know.
