How many houses did you look at before you purchased?

Re: question for homeowners
We bought the second house we looked at, but we looked at approximately 30 houses.
Edit: This included the online looking.

Online - tons... in person, I think 7.
one thing I would recommend is if you find a house you like, try to look at some other houses in the same neighborhood, even if they are more/less expensive to get a better feel for the neighborhood, ideas for improvements you can make and get some value out of, and to make sure you aren't buying the nicest house in the neighborhood (which can be detrimental to resale value).

looked at 100s online
saw probably 12 in person.
In person, over about four months, I would say we went to 20. Online, lots more than that. To be fair, though, our market was really not hurting at all. Houses were getting like 8 great bids on the day they went on the market, selling over list price, not many foreclosures, etc.
My advice would be to choose the one or two points that are absolutely essential to you and don't compromise on those. At the time we were watching a lot of "Property Virgins" and laughing at all these people who were like "I don't like this house. The walls are an ugly color" so I felt like I had to compromise on everything because that's what a wise person does. Now I wish I'd held out for the exact town I wanted to be in, and not the one next door. That doesn't change.

30ish before putting in our first offer
5 more, before withdrawing said offer (THANK GOD)
then another 15 before finding the "perfect" place...
and then 3 more to make sure that the place was actually perfect.
+ 100s online over the course of 6 months.
Yeah, we're not picky. At all.
I survived the RoLex wedding and all I got was this lousy husband.

I know!! And the prices!! I saw one it was two doctors in Louisiana and they were looking at complete and utter mansions for like 250/300k and being like "Hmm, I don't know. It's a lot of money. Hmm." For like 5 bedrooms and sweeping views and wraparound porches and stuff. You can't buy an outhouse in someone's back yard in Los Angeles for that money!

Haha. I can only imagine what goes through your mind when you hear the prices living where you do! Even I'm like "whoa" and I live in a LCOL city.
