I got my first IUD this weekend!!! First of all, IT HURT!!
But I'm better now. I was on the pill with a special low-dose of estrogen because I get migraines. I already feel better though. I've only been off the pill for a week. My face isn't oily anymore. I'm not stressed or anxious at all. My period is over (4 days?!) and I had the IUD inserted on Friday.
I read all of the horror stories online before getting it inserted and I actually cried when the doctor came in. I was just that nervous about the whole ordeal. While it did hurt just as much as I feared, I am confident that the IUD was a good choice for me.
I have a son already and I'm getting married in July. Crossing my fingers that I won't get my period anymore and won't have to worry about spotting on my wedding day :-/
Has anyone had Mirena removed? I was just wondering how it feels in comparison to insertion.

Re: IUD Removal
It doesn't hurt to have it removed. My doctor told me to cough and when I did, she pulled it out.
Mine didn't hurt to have it inserted either. I was told to come in when I got my first period after DS was born so that my cervix would be open. I heard the horror stories, but mine was completely painless.
Removal was SO EASY!
1 cough and very slight tug, DONE...that was it! I was kind of scared about it too after the uncomfortable-ness I felt during the insertion and immediately following.
GL!
