Just Ranting...

FI insisted we should sell his house & buy a new one which I am down with because it wold be nice to have 'our' house. BUT, so we can take advantage of the $8k first time homebuyer credit that I qualify for - we should do it all before the wedding. In April. Ohhhhhh yeah, did I mention he is remodeling the whole frigging house too which just started this week?! Of course he says, "Don't worry - I'll take care of everything!" but, um - really. You haven't even gone and picked out the tuxes for the wedding which is now less than 3 months away. So yeah....here is my living hell for the next three months on top of wedding BS. UGH! I will earn that honeymoon darn it!!

Re: Just Ranting...

  • I feel your pain.  Last year we finally sold DH's house about 4 months prior to the wedding.  New house wasn't ready, so we had to live in a tiny apartment with all of our crap in boxes for 2 1/2 months.  Finally moved into the new place (which wasn't actually even completed yet) 1 1/2 months before the wedding.

That is all to say: you can do it!  It'll be a rough couple months, but just keep thinking that it'll all be behind you soon, and you'll be $8k richer!  Buy yourself a nice long massage (or several) when it's over!

  • I know what you mean! I'm also getting married in April and working full time (with upheaval at my company) and running my own business and FI is finishing up his doctorate and I'm trying to turn a pretty run down depression-era house into a home for us. It's such a stressful time, but I'm sure you can get through it!
  • What a crazy time for you!  Just throwing this out there altough I'm sure you've check into it.  Will you guys qualify for the $8k credit since he currently owns his house?  I don't know the ins and outs of it but if that's a big reason for your timing you might want to check into it.

Good luck with all of it!

  • Oh man, I feel like I could have written this myself 4 months ago.

I feel your pain, girl, I was in almost exactly the same boat...tuxes, house, and everything! It all worked out for us and I'm sure it will for you, but I definitely understand your frustration. Chin up, the honeymoon is a great thing to focus on! :-)

  • Hang in there, lady! You'll get through and come out the other side so proud of yourself. And just think, you have a big party at the end of it. :)

And an aside, AggieDanner, GORGEOUS picture! You look beautiful. Congrats!

  • First time checking back in after writing this - thanks for all the support ladies. I'm glad others have been through the same madness and lived to tell about it (without killing their FI!) ; )

Yeah, when it's all said and done it will be great to come home to a home that is ours. And in the meantime our current home remodel is supposed to be done around the 20th so it should all be over soon. Thanks again for listening to my craziness.
