Goodness!

I just made Elise's first dentist appointment.  This should be VERY interesting.  She goes on the 15th.

Re: Goodness!

  • Good luck with that!  Are you using a pediatric dentist?  I was scarred by a bad dentist when I was younger and it's made me a "bad patient" as an adult.  I hope to stop this cycle with my own kids.

  • Serious Question - why do you take a toddler to the dentist? I guess to check their gums, etc, am I missing something? I didn't go to a dentist till my 10th birthday.

  • Shoe - yep it's a pediatric dentist.

MT - I didn't really see why either, but at her last checkup the pedi told me that it's time to take her, then I saw in Parents magazine or something about how you're supposed to take them around 1 year old.  So I made the appointment.

I asked what they do and they just look at the gums/teeth and pretty much just get them used to going to the dentist and stuff.

I think that is excellent advice.  I could see how that would lessen the fear as they get older if they are used to going.
