If at first you don't succeed.....

manipulate the system till you get your way. I think this is my MIL's philosphy on life. Last weekend when they came to visit she saw a pink baby piano in a store window and decided my niece needed. Of course instead of going there herself she asked us to go by and find out the price. After they left I called the store and got the price. Then called my SIL to let her know of the plan.
SIL said she really didn't have the room for anymore toys nor does Olive (the niece) need any more noise makers. My MIL has bought this child tons of noisemaking toys, it's the only type she will buy.
So John calls his dad and says the price is $89 but SIL & BIL don't have room nor do they want it. (John's dad is a lot more rational about these things). Today John gets a call that MIL wants the piano and she's going to keep it at her house.
My niece goes up there MAYBE once every three months or so. I reminded John that this is the same woman who would get frustrated when Pappagano and her dog Toby would run around and make noise. Hope she enjoys a toddler constantly banging on a honky tonk.

  • Should be interesting when the kid is banging the crap out of the keys, and she can't take a noise.

I personally hate noise making toys. I requested only non-battery operated toys. The lights and noises those things make drive me crazy.

  • my MIL is constantly buying Elise toys to keep at her house.  Elise goes over there maybe once every few months.  I don't see the point.

We've gone through so many batteries since Elise was born.  One of her favorite things is her "TV" as my mom calls it.  The little jungle aquarium crib thingie.  She LOVES it and watches it all the time.  It's great because it allows us to get a few extra zzz's while she entertains herself with it!
