pregnancy is making me feisty

As my students would say, "I almost cut a b!tch."

I was trying to give my fourth hour class a test, and the teacher next to me was playing a movie on WWII, it was SOOOO loud, and it had gun shots and all kinds of crazy ***, we could not concentrate on the test.

I went over there and asked very, very nicely, "would you mind please turning that down, I am giving my students a test." Then the following conversation happened:

Other Teacher: ::eye roll:: we're trying to watch a movie

Me: I understand you're trying to watch a movie, my students are trying to work on a test, and the movie is very loud and distracting. Please turn it down.

OT: My students have to be able to hear it.

Me: Mine don't...

OT ::cuts her eyes at me, turns it down::

Me: Thank you so much, I really appreciate you're flexibilty with the issue

OT: Ugh/sigh...something along those lines with another eye roll

This teacher thinks she is the queen bee, because she teacher honors. I teach special ed resource, I am the redheaded step child. She did not want to turn the video down, and I was going to stand there until she did.

Fifth hour comes around, same damn thing happens. I went over there, and I guess my face said it all, she turned it down and looked up at me and we just stared for a minute. If it happens again, I may lose it.

  • I don't think the pregnancy is making you feisty, I think you were that way to begin with! I'm glad you stood up for your kids and put the Queen in her place.
