Where's a good place to go out in Raleigh?

I was on the Boston board [my old stomping grounds] and saw a Nestie there say she asked over here and didn't get any responses. I told her I'm too old and unhip to know of any place, but certainly some of you young pups would have some recommendations. ;-)

Re: Where's a good place to go out in Raleigh?

Wonder if this might be something they'd be interested in? I've only been to the restaurant, the food was really good.  A friend's college aged daughter likes to go to the nightclub portion.

  • Solas is a good recommendation.  If you eat dinner there, you don't have to pay the cover charge later in the evening.  We went in the summer, so we hung out on the rooftop bar, not the club.  I think the rooftop is heated in the winter though.
  • If they just head to Glenwood South, they will find some place.  There is Solas and 616 for dancing.  Tell her to look up Cashmere and The Mint too.  Blue Martini is a good place to start with drinks and light apps.  Red Room is a good starting place too.

  • Gawd, I feel old! I've only ever heard of Blue Martini. Never been there, but heard of it. ;-)

  • I didn't reply 'cause I don't really know of anything like what she was interested in. On 2nd thought, we did do my birthday at Cashmere last year & it was nice. Good drinks, very lounge-y and tasty apps.
  • Glenwood South is always a great place to hit b/c there are a variety of places to go.  Fayetteville Street is picking up with some good places for food & drinks, too.
  • I think Blue Martini is closed.
  • Maybe Bogarts for dinner and Red Room afterwards.
