Whittaker Science Center

Has anyone been there recently?  I was thinking about taking my 6th graders there since they have that Forces of Nature exhibit & we just finished a unit on Weather, but I want to make sure they will enjoy it/have enough to do!  TIA!

Re: Whittaker Science Center

  • I went there in the spring with my mom's life skills class and it was interesting. They have things for students to do at each level, so it would be good for them. I don't know if I would plan on going an entire day unless you are going to go to the IMAX also, but it was very interesting and the Forces of Nature exhibit is pretty cool, although may be a little young for them. I'm not sure how 6th grade would feel about it.

  • My husband and I took our nephews there this past week and although they loved it they are 12 and 7.... like pp said, I'm not sure that the 6th graders would love it unless maybe you would do IMAX as well which I love myself and I'm 30 :)  Good luck.
  • We were going to do an IMAX as well...either the Hubble 3D one coming out in the spring or the Forces of Nature one.

The IMAX would definitely help the trip (especially if the shows are in 3D). They would love that. There are activities all throughout the place for them to do and it would help gear more toward their learning level, however I think a few of the things may be a little young, and they would definitely move through it pretty quickly even though there are 3 floors. It is still neat to go to.
