TIA.

Re: suggestions please
This might not fit into what you're looking for, but I know people use ACV to cure all kids of things. I think mostly for allergies and asthma. I don't know if there is any good research on it though.
that might work. the problem i have been running into is finding actual science that supports things that we use on this board every day. i will have to see what is out there. i already used tea tree oil for one assignment, so that is out.
I'm not sure how well this fits with your class but alternative medicine treatments for hypothyroidism could be interesting. It's a fairly controversial topic in the medical community - conventional doctors and endocrinologists advocate strongly against alternative medicine but it's the only thing that works for some patients. The major alt treatment is natural thyroid replacement made from the thyroid of pigs. It used to be the only treatment available until the mid 1900's when synthetics came on the market and now it's the black sheep. There is also acupuncture, herbs and biofeedback (your body's response to stress is measured and you learn how to control your response). Actually, biofeedback on its own could be an interesting topic.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
I thought of another one that again, might not fit the category, but might be interesting. The use of gluten-casein free diets as a way to reduce problem behavior in children with autism. Most parents use it as a replacement for behavioral medication or other therapies. There is research both for and against it.
From my personal experience with clients I don't think it works. But I'm a little biased because of my job.
Or going off of this - the use of vitamin B12 injections for reducing difficult behaviors in children with Autism.
Or natural chelation techniques for kids on the spectrum or those who have heavy metal poisoning.
Wow, that seems really broad! I like a lot of direction with assignments.
What about acupuncture? There's a decent amount of research being done on its effectiveness http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=research+shows+acupuncture&aq=f&aqi=&oq=
You could also use veterinary acupuncture as a way to disprove placebo effect.
