Sort of strange question - comfort foods

I have never noticed this before, but I am super stressed out lately and I find myself comfort eating.  It could be in part due to breastfeeding (because sometimes I really am worn out and hungry), but other times I put the kids to bed and I just want to EAT!  I know I'm not starving, and I just want junk...

Any tips on how to kick this?  It's not boredom eating, it's not like I'm sitting in front of the TV just pigging out to pass the time - maybe it's because when everyone goes to sleep after 10 or 11pm, it is "me" time and I want to treat myself or something?

Aside from trying to dissect my psychology/motives - any suggestions on how to stop doing this?  I have no self control!  We are talking Oreos, Nutella, etc!

  • Are you getting enough to eat during the day?  You may actually be hungry but who the heck wants to cook something yummy and healthy at that time of night, you know?

     

    Maybe a hobby?  Or just reading?  Gum chewing?

  • For me, what is easiest is to just not have it in the house.  If it is there, trust me, I'll eat it.  DH is the same way so we both know what not to have around the house but if your DH isn't on board, then it might be a hard time for you.  Gum helps me too and I'm a big fan of popcorn which can be pretty low-fat.
