I am getting an iud put in today and im just wondering if any one would trust it enough to not wear a condom i have no desire to have another baby any time soon and neither does DH

Re: IUD and condoms...
I have Mirena and do not use back-up. I was told I could have sex as soon as I felt like it. I was not advised to use condoms and from what I've read and what my doctor told me, IUDs are effective right away. There is no room for human error like the pill or other forms of BC and it's one of the most reliable forms there is. Mirena is 99.99% effective.
ETA: you most likely won't feel like having sex for at least a day or two after having it inserted. I cramped the day I got it and then was fine after that. My period actually stopped the day after I had it put in and I had it inserted on day 3 of my period.
