what did you do this weekend?
Re: chirp chirp, chirp chirp
Saturday I told DH I wanted him to stay in (he is always on the go, especially on weekends) and he agreed...
until about 3pm when one of his friends convinced him to go pick him up (DH drives a truck w/4wheel drive) to stay with us for a few days
but I spent much of the day going through a stack of magazines, tearing out pages that were worth keeping and organizing them in a binder and then rearranging our back living room/office...to make room for a new seating area that I'm going to get two ikea chairs to create!
Sunday, we all (the 3 of us, plus we picked up my bro and his wife) went to my parents house where they have about 10 acres and the PERFECT place for sledding...it was great to act like a kid again!
Friday we went to dinner with friends and hung out at our house.
Saturday we played in the snow and went to some of our friends house for a while and ate dinner and watched movies. (They live in our nighborhood, we walked because I was not driving anywhere.)
Sunday we were lazy and stayed at home in our PJ's all day.
Saturday highlights - We went absolutely nowhere for the first Saturday since I can't remember when. After 11 years, our dog finally discovered snow was edible & that she'd rather shiver & eat the snow off our back porch than come inside when yelled at repeatedly. DH helped me sort through a ton of my dad's personal stuff. My mom called around 11:30am. Conversations with her are always intersting; this one in particular resulted in me drinking before noon for the first time in my life.
Sunday - I ignored DH's dire threats that I would fall & break an ankle, strapped on his rubber ice cleat thingies over my shoes, & went for a jog on the hard-packed ice & snow. It was fun! Aaaand, my 1 mile average was 9 minutes, which is a half minute less than my normal time
Friday: We went to the melting pot for the 1st time
Saturday: I got a new tire (I had a blow out Friday), and we went to the grocery store
Sunday: I went to the mall and got an awesome pair of $100 boots for $30!
Friday: Stayed in with our house guest
Saturday: Spent the day doing laundry, then headed to Roan Mountain, TN that night to have a couples getaway.
Sunday: Big breakfast and then hiking on the AT trail
I know--i was catching up on the Grammys just a bit ago (you can tell how busy we are) to keep myself busy.
Friday night Dh and I made the mistake of stopping by the grocery store just for a few things--not even essentials. that wasn't smart of us, but it sure was fun to people watch!! I had a quick little 2 mile job to Fresh Market and back to pick up the dried strawberries Dh SWORE were not at FM. Needless to say, I made him eat his words.
That night I/we made our homemade granola which freaking rocks my world and had homemade pizza.
Saturday I drove up to Petsmart to take care of the kitties--normally I'm the Monday morning girl, but the organizer called me Thursday to see if I could do it if the weather was bad. It was me, the GM, and 2 staffers and that was it. The GM thought they were going to close early because everyone else had called out. Anway, I left and made it home--well almost home. We live at the top of a small hill--but most standards it'd be considered a "bump" but we'll call it a hill. My car couldn't even make it up to the first house on our street without all three of our neighbors coming out to help push it up into their driveway (not even our own). We were all afraid if there were any cars in the road, the plow wouldn't come up it. So we got my car out of the road...but the plow still didn't come--even though they got the rest of our neighborhood. GSO DOT BLOWS, btw. That was after DH and I went on the hardest 3.25 mile run ever. We were supposed to have done 7 for our 1/2 marathon training, but that 3.25--man, my calves were screaming. Running through freshly fallen snow is hard! Saturday night we watched The Hangover, which we both enjoyed very much (we were tame and watched the regular version, not the unrated one).
Sunday I cleaned and fed the kitties again and then went home and watched a little Vertigo on BBCA. Then I made a boatload of cookies--I ate a boatload of cookies and we went to dinner at a local mexican place. Fell asleep watching tv again and that was that!
Saturday: NOTHING. I literally napped and watched TV ALL DAY.
Sunday: Took a walk with the dogs to see how bad some of the other roads were, cooked dinner, finished a book...yea that's about it.
Friday: After I got off of work, DH and I watched TV, I did some yoga, did my cardio max Biggest Loser DVD, started thinking that maybe I'm becoming addicted to endorphines :P.
Saturday: We went to my mom's house for chicken and dumpling soup (sooooo delicious), had a few drinks with her and my step dad and ended up playing the most hilarious round of Dominoes EVER.
Sunday: We got cabin fever and went grocery shopping @ Trader Joes, then we priced tennis rackets @ Target and came home in time to watch the new episodes of The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad.
Oh, and I ate some wasabi trail mix (with a lot of wasabi peas in it) and thought about Katie and her poor nose (I had to stop after a handful because my nose was burning lol).
We watched it snow:
We played in the snow:
Slept, made lots of yummy comfort food and braved the icy roads to go to the minute clinic for some Antibiotics for this sinus infection I've had for 2wks now.
One of the local radio stations in the Triad bet that this was what kept people entertained indoors all weekend. I think there was a poll for how often people were doing it/day....maybe we should do it as a clicky poll. HAHA.
