dh is getting worse at remembering things, to the point that i'm worried it's becoming dangerous. 7 years ago, he was the one who remembered that it was our anniversary or that today we had plans to do x. but now, he can't remember to set his alarm clock or lock the door or give aubrey her medicine... he knows these things are important so it's not that he's blowing them off - he genuinely can't remember to do them, even if they're a part of his daily routine. this makes me verrry nervous, especially with a newborn on the way and my impending "mommy brain" - i'm not going to be able to remind him of everything.
should we start with our GP or would that be a waste of time/money? neurologist? what kind of dr do you see for ad/hd? i almost wonder if this could be helped with a.d.d. meds.
thanks in advance!
Re: what kind of doctor do you see for forgetfulness?
Start with a GP. Make sure he's drinking enough water and getting sufficient vitamins.
I took a Rx that made me incredibly forgetful- just plain dingy. I would forget words mid-sentence, common store names (hello, Walmart?) and just plain not be able to remember anything I was supposed to do. When I got off it (with my Neuro) she didn't have anything other than drink water/ excercise/ eat well and do mind activities (puzzles) to help bring back my short term memory. It really has helped though.
Is he under a tremendous amount of stress? That seems to make my brain go for a loop on the normal day to day things?
Amy
Unless there's a history of early-onset Alzheimer's in the family, I'd probably consider consulting a psychologist or therapist before going to a GP. At least that's what I would do if it were me.

GP....just a thought....right before my dad had his stent put in he was forgetting the most simplest of things. For example....he would leave the house and forget to lock the door.
The doctor said this was a common sign when you have blockage.
I just went through this with my DH. It was getting scary how bad it was. He couldnt even remember to put the nipple on DS's bottle!
I made him go to his GP and for us it turned out to be a medicine that he is on, so there is nothing that we can do.
But like pp said... is he under a lot of stress right now or anything like that?
