Are there any Weight Watchers girls on this board?
I just went back on it a week ago after a few months hiatus and I am looking for some advice. Come out come out if you are on WW too!
Re: Are there any Weight Watchers girls on this board?
I am not currently counting my points but I've lost around 60lbs with WW and am a huge proponent of the program. If I can answer any questions I'd be glad to! GL!
Oh yay!I definitely need some WW buddies. I did it leading up to my wedding and lost 18 lbs. I quit a couple weeks before the wedding, I've been married 2.5 months and I'm already back up 7 lbs. UGH! So here I am, back on the plan.
I guess I was looking for advice for how you guys deal with cooking dinner for your husbands. My husband is a very All American (read, not healthy) eater, and I am finding it really hard to cook for both of us without making two different batches of everything. I am a vegetarian, which makes it hard enough to cook for the both of us, but I am seriously struggling to figure out what things are healthy enough for me and tasty enough for him. Any suggestions? Anything a big hit with the hubs? I am thinking of starting to eat white meat because I am so bored with vegetarianism.
Also, we watch a lot of sports and movies and I find it hard to resist partaking in the beer and chips endulgances. Any advice?
I only eat white meat (chicken, pork, turkey) and am the super picky eater of the two of us. The other thing in my house is that 2-3 nights a week I am not home for dinner so he is on his own. I do try to make enough food when I cook so that there are left overs (good for my lunch, and him to eat the next night). The other thing I do on those nights for him is leave the stuff that isnt so good for you (pasta alfredo, fried things, pizza, etc.) that he can just pop into the oven when he gets home from work. So that usually satisfies him. I also dont tell him when I am making "WW" dinners because he really cant tell.
I live by my crock pot. It makes life easy, toss in stuff, dinners done in 5 hours while we are at work. I find mexican foods have great flavor and he is satisfied. I do one where I throw whole grain rice in the bottom, 12oz chicken breast, a bunch of seasoning on the chicken (chili powder, taco mix, etc.), pour a jar of salsa over the top and I usually add a can of corn. Its about 6 points per serving and this makes 4. He loves it! We had it last night actually. Sometimes DH chops the chicken and puts it on a wrap and eats it like a burrito. I add some veggies on the side of mine for no points.
I've got a whole binder of recipes that I had found at one time. But most of the things I make have chicken or turkey in them. DH needs meat. My biggest issue is snacking. I can handle having chicken tenders and pizza frozen in the oven but chips do me in. I try to buy ww friend equals for me so that when he is snacking I can too. 100 calorie pop corn or even the smart pop stuff is great. And lasts a long time. Look into Lays Light. It is 1 point per serving and they are really good. I do lots of granola bars, fiber one bars, jello (no points), sugar free pudding (1 point), popsicles, frozen cool whip, raw veggies and ff ranch. I have major oral fixation so I chew A LOT of gum. It helps because I find I am usually not hungry just bored.
Water intake I struggle with especially on weekends. I am a caffeine junky! I love me some Diet Coke and coffee. I dont let me self half either until I've drank at least 32 oz of water. This usually happens by 10am especially at work so that I get my "reward" which is no points!
That was a lot! Sorry. Hopefully some of it helps. If you want more of anything let me know. My email is nestiesarah6907@gmail.com
Thanks for the tips! We just got a crock pot, so I need to start looking for some recipes. I like the Mexican idea - your recipe sounds really good and he and I both love Mexican food. I think I need to just sneak things by him...he always flinches when I bring home whole wheat or whole grain, but maybe if I don't tell him he won't notice
Thanks for the advice!
I've been on WW since the beginning of January and have lost 7 lbs. I was always small until I started my last job that burned massive calories during the day and was surrounded by fast food. I just started a new job as a graphic designer, much less physical but there is no food source anywhere near it so I am forced to plan my own meals. I feel like WW is more about accounting for what you eat and your portion control than it is about deprivation. You can have just about anything in moderation. DH and I even have our weekly taco bell trip when we go to our dog training class.
As far as feeding him, with my old job I got home way later than him and worked longer hours so he did the cooking. Now we alternate and I use recipes I've found off of weightwatchers.com when it's my night. I've told DH (in a nice way) that if he wants me to cook and stick to the plan he's got to eat healthy too. So far he's liked everything I've made. Good luck!
Me too!!!!!!! I swore up and down to myself that I wasnt going to be someone who got married and just let myself go, but I'm also up SEVEN pounds since getting married 3 months ago!!
The holidays had a lot to do with it, but I feel so gross!!! I lost 10 lbs on WW a year ago so I am a big fan of the program. Im thinking about starting it back up because they are running a special right now, sign up and no sign-up fee, which always kills me. Im also finding it incredibly hard to fix dinners for the both of us that are healthy yet filling for DH, who can eat quite a bit (and not gain an ounce, sigh). I wind up making these fattening yummy meals I guess because I want him to be real happy with my cooking... yet it's adding to my waistline, augh!!
