So, first off, hello to everyone. I used the knot for some wedding planning, and I check out the nest every now and then. You all have some really wonderful tips/recipes/suggestions/etc, so hopefully, someday, I will be able to contribute something to help someone else out. My DH and I have been married for a year in March and we live in central/north Austin (I grew up here, so I have a hard time figuring out what is considered north Austin these days). I work nights, which explains the 5am post.
So, I am coming out of lurkdom (hopefully for good) to ask for some suggestions on what to get a soon-to-be mom for her birthday. We are having her baby shower/birthday party on the same day...shower will be girls only and birthday party will include all the guys. Of course, I got her baby stuff for the shower, but I want to get her something she would like that is just for her. Problem is, I am not a mom, so I am having trouble coming up with ideas. Thanks in advance!
Re: Birthday gift idea for soon-to-be mom
One of the first things I can think of is a massage. I can't think of a woman that doesn't like them.
Or even just a pedicure and manicure. Something that pampers her since I'm sure she's feeling a little drained. HTH
This!! We've done this for a few of our friends, and they have loved it. If you go this route, just make sure the salon/spa offers massages for pregnant women!!

If she's pretty early in her pregnancy, I totally would rec a massage/spa GC. Anything past her third trimester and she would probably be too uncomfortable to really enjoy any pampering (unless it was just a pedicure).
If she's in her third trimester, maid services and/or a GC to some kind of meal delivery service would be AWESOME.
Definitely anything spa - mani/pedi would be a great gift!
Make it personal - not baby related so she will feel special.
